CHAPARRAL, N.M. -- Two southern New Mexico men are recovering after accidentally shooting themselves while trying to trace a loaded .357-caliber Magnum as a pattern for a tattoo.
The Otero County Sheriff's Department identified the men as Robert Glasser and Joey Acosta. Both are 22.
The sheriff's department said deputies responded to the shooting in Chaparral on Thursday evening, but Glasser and Acosta were already on their way to a hospital in nearby El Paso, Texas.
Authorities say Glasser was struck in the hand when the gun accidentally went off. Acosta was hit in the left arm. The injuries were not life-threatening.

LOL. A Marine brat cracking wise on tatoos? That’s funny, I don’t care who you are.
I’ve never met a Marine without multiple tatoos.
They were probably stewed.
They’re definitely screwed.
They didn’t make it to tattooed.
Well, in the past, we have been known as "New Mexicans," but they probably have taken over our state by now, so they many drop the "New." LOL
You've got some of those "hill critters" too don't you? ;o) Btw, you live in a very beautiful state! I've been through there a couple of times, and I have always enjoyed the scenery.
Yes we sure do! Missouri's not too bad in southern missouri and northern missouri...the weather has taken a toll on the trees in central western missouri. They're not too pretty to look at.
Kansas City MO use to be a cool spot to live in, I'd rather stay away from it as much as I can. I like country. :)
I traveled through New Mexico when I was in junior high, but my memories are vague. It was beautiful and the people were really nice. We visited a portion of the northern side this summer and it was awesome. I think it was called "old town"..in Albuquerque. The people were so nice, it was really a beautiful area. I want to go back soon to see Santa Fe.
That’s stupid enough to qualify for the Darwin Awards if they hadn’t managed to survive that.
Well, I'd never actually say it to a Leatherneck's face. :)
Ive never met a Marine without multiple tatoos.
I don't think my old man ever had any. He learned to smoke in the Corps, and he learned to drink 7&7 in the Corps, but he never showed me any tattoos. I'll have to ask my mom next time I talk to her.
That probably would be a much safer choice for these clowns. LOL.
