Dark-skinned people do not absorb as much sunlight through the skin and may also wear clothing that limits exposure to the sun for cultural reasons.Yet another reason that Islam is bad for women's health.

My own doctor told me I had a very low level of D and proscribed 50 mgs. to be taken weekly.
She claims that western societies who have the emphasis on skin cancer and over use of sunscreens has brought about much of the problem.
She told me NOT to use any moisturizer or makeup with sunscreen in it and to attempt to be outside at least 30 minutes each and every day, even in winter as the sun is closer, so I could soak up the "best and least expensive source."
