December 29, 2007 -- FOR some Hollywood superstars, 2007 was a spectacular year of box-office bravado.
Truer words were never spoken.
Plenty of superstars need attitude adjustments.
The lovely Jessica Alba starred in the Fantastic Four and got pregnant and engaged. Whew! Watta year for Hollywood.
Maybe if the make a movie out of an old mediocre sitcom or cartoon? Have they tried that yet? Or maybe a hiphop remake of The Sound of Music?
There is hope on the horizon.
“The Hobbit” and “Prince Caspian” are both in pre-production.
Tolkien and Lewis - proof that a good story can never go wrong.
Bottom line: People will fork out 8 bucks to see a movie that entertains them (Hitch, Ghost Rider), does not slam their country (National Treasure), and fortifies their belief in the American dream (Pursuit of Happyness). They don’t want to see movies that slam their country (countless anti-war films), preach at them (where do I start?) or their religion (Golden Compass).
It’s a simple formula really, but I’ve come to the conclusion that Hollywood directors (and stars) aren’t really out to please the public anymore. Their goal is Oscars, so they have to please their liberal peers. This involves anti-American, preachy films.
Word is Sam (Spiderman) Raimi will direct The Hobbit.
That's it???
Lose the tagline.
Awww, man! :(
