If 2007 was shaped by anything, it was the scuffle to pay for information about Anna Nicole Smith.
Before her death on Feb. 8, 2007, I had rarely, if ever, thought about Smith. I certainly had not written much about her. The birth of her baby the previous September was not that interesting. The death of her grown son was, but not that much. He wasn’t a celebrity. She was a Grade D personality, a buffoonish comic strip, a Marilyn Monroe pretender.

The author of this article and the article itself is a prime example of how our mainstream “news” services have become the least trustworthy and worst sources of relevant information.
Wrecked what? We’re talking about entertainment journalism, heck that’s below sports-writing. But I guess if they wring their hands and go “Woe is us” as often as a sportswriter, then they might be taken just as seriously.
“Wrecked what?”
Well said.
I have heard of Anna Nicole, but who is Rodger Friedman?
Normally I don’t read this stuff, but was curious about this guy’s position.
My advice to him: just ignore it like most of the rest of us.
This guy is upset about checkbook journalism. They wouldn’t be opening their checkbooks if they didn’t expect to make even more money from ratings, from the people who consume celebrity gossip. The fact that inane, mean-spirited gossip draws so many people is what’s really scary.
What’s so highly suspicious, about two deaths caused by drug interactions? It happens daily! The son was being treated for depression, hospitalized a couple months pre-death for misuse of Valium, I’d label his death accident by misadventure. And Anna Nicole too was dealing with depression&stress(before&after his death)and was receiving medication, from what I understand one drug tipped the scales(instead of one teaspoon, she had a tablespoon)many people abuse prescriptions, this is nothing new.
I couldn’t agree with you more! And I’ll add celebrity gossip has gotten out of hand, as has speculation on current crimes, it’s to the point viewers have to determine on their own what is true and what is false, what’s the point of watching the news, if it leaves you questioning the report. What bothers me is news stations, newspapers, gossip journalism etc. paying for interviews that are irrelevant, such as if the one being interviewed doesn’t know the truth, distorts the truth, or inserts their own opinion, without knowledge.
