Menudo, of course!!!
(I have to cover it with LOTS of chopped cilantro, green onions, and ground chili peppers because otherwise it’s too disgusting-looking to eat LOL)

I don’t know where my family’s traditions started but someone has to be at the back door at midnight to sweep the old year out . Another person opens the front door to let the new year in. We also leave a bunch of change in jars outside of each door. Thats to insure we aren't broke in the new year...
I make hors d'oeuvres & sandwiches. Maybe a ham if we are going to have people over.

Absotutely, then you strain em out. Can’t make red eye gravy with out coffee and using grounds cuts out having to reduce the coffee.

I miss having a roasted pig with my friends when I lived in Miami.
New Years Dinner for me this year will probably be lobster.

Oregano is awesome on Menudo as well. The spicier the better.

We have lobster on New Years Eve. On 1/1 we have ham which I hate so I am also making baked Ziti.

New Years Eve is better; we put the little SFRepublicans to bed and have an 8 course meal over about 2 hours.
To: duckman
Well they are, but those are only edible for a small usury fee,:-)

Pork....sweet potatoes, black eyed peas, corn bread.
Some egg nog (yes again) the night before or on occasion instead on New Years Day evening
Homemade Nog.....bourbon, eggs, cream, sugar.....whipped then folded
some folks don’t do ambrosia till New Years Day

What are you eating?
Baked Ziti is real easy the hard part is making the gravy. I tried making rice balls on Christmas Eve and my husband hated them. I thought they were good.

Menudo (with lots of chili peppers added) is supposed to be a hangover cure. It’s traditional for local Mexican restaurants to make it this time of year; the tradition includes “bring your own pot” :)
Tripe and hominy are absolutely disgusting on their own— but well-made menudo is very tasty. It’s one of those foods you can’t look at when you eat it. LOL.

My wife makes regular New Years Day food for down here.
Roast Pork
Sweet Potatoes
Black eyed Peas
Skillet Corn Bread
it’s the sort of thing one here would call country food and that we eat at least monthly
I just like Baked Ziti quite a bit.
