Three coyotes have tested negative for rabies after three children were attacked last week in southern Alberta.
Fish and Wildlife officers caught and tested the animals after three children were attacked in Canmore, Alta., which is about 100 kilometres west of Calgary.
"Parents will probably feel relieved," ...
The coyote first bit another 10-year-old boy on the leg. Skaters scared the animal away, but it returned and bit Ethan's jacket...
Canmore residents are still on the alert because the attacks were strange behaviour for coyotes, who usually avoid people, said Darcy Whiteside, a spokesman for Alberta Sustainable Resource Development.

Why would coyotes avoid easy meals? They take down deer in my backyard. They are dangerous creatures and travel in packs.
Sometimes I think wildlife biologists are insane.
In Denver area yesterday : “ Woman bitten, two dogs dead after coyote attack...”
In areas in which shooting wolves or coyotes with rifles is legally impossible or socially impracticable, there is always the compound bow. Archery is one of those sports which has come several thousand years over the last 40.
compound bow is one option.
Sorry. Killing or injuring coyotes is illegal, in every state, as far as I know. I can’t even legally shoot coyotes or javelinas with a high powered BB gun - it could injure one of them. (Heaven forbid!)
Of course - if you have a deep hole dug and ready - who’s to know?
You are misinformed. Coyotes are varmints in Idaho. No limits on shooting them at any time here.
Canmore residents are still on the alert ...
That is why I said, “as far as I know”. I wish we could shoot ‘em here in AZ.
I watched a Rottweiller chase one through my yard last year. The Rottie gave up the chase after the coyote disappeared, and he (the dog) headed back to his porch to lay in the sun. As soon as he turned away, the coyote came running at him, full speed. His mouth was wide open as he ran towards the dog. The dog never saw him coming. What I saw next, (from my kitchen window) was like a mini tornado - or very large dust devil. The Rottie screamed, and went running away, bleeding, and the coyote (who was half his size) walked away with a big smile.

What you think you know is wrong. I don't know one place where coyotes are restricted or protected. In some areas there is still a bounty on them.

Good Hunting... from Varmint Al
I believe it is illegal to discharge a gun within city limits in most cities in the US. Of course as you stated, I was wrong before, could be wrong again.
Hope your Christmas was wonderful!
Well, yes, it is illegal to shoot inside most city limits, but that’s not a restriction on killing coyotes.
Discharging a firearm are is illegal inside many city limits. That includes my charming little city of Chubbuck, ID. If we have skunks hunting in our yards on a warm summer night, we have to call to local PD officers. I provide them with a .22LR pistol to dispatch the critter as their service 40 S&W is excessive for a skunk and not particularly safe around a residential area.
You'll have to confine your varmint reduction efforts to places outside of city limits. A friend in San Diego told of his time in Texas. He would take his .22LR to pick off a bunch of prairie dogs. He then made a pile of the prairie dogs and waited for the coyotes to arrive. He would harvest 3 to 5 coyotes and sell the pelts in town to replenish his ammo. Repeat as necessary.
