FedEx does not guarantee "Guaranteed Delivery" during Christmas (Vanity)

Just in time for Christmas, FedEx informed me they do not guarantee delivery -- because it's Christmas.

My husband's business partner sent some paperwork last night from the Chicago area. She paid extra to have "Guaranteed Delivery by 10:30." At noon, I called FedEx with the tracking number. They said it was on a truck.

I asked how to apply for a refund for the expedited service, since the package was not delivered by 10:30. The FedEx representative told me there would be no refund, since there is no guarantee at this time of year. I asked if the package would be delivered today, again, no guarantee at this time of year.

So don't waste your money on expedited shipping fees. You're better off going to the Post Office.

If you can find someone to provide the service you need then go there.

I've used all the delivery services with varied results. If I needed to get something overnighted, usually FedEx was the way to go. I don't ship many things, so I'm not experienced with the ins-and-outs of the delivery services. I'm not used to guarantees with disclaimers.

The Post Office's "Priority Mail" won't guarantee 3 day delivery any time of the year.

I'd trust FedEx's or UPS' package tracking system much more than the USPS.

Yeah, the 3-day-delivery is a joke, since First Class usually takes about the same amount of time.

And FedEx's tracking system did tell me it was on a truck -- just not where the truck was headed.

Don’t bother ordering anything from L.L. Bean if you expect it for Christmas either.

I placed an order weeks ago, and was told the items were in stock, but when I called after not receiving the order I was told “they were unavailable”. It didn’t matter what the print out of my order said (in stock) or what I was told on the phone when I placed the order.

The company never notified me of a problem. They could have called, as they did when there was an issue originally with one of the items, but they never did. I’m not buying any of their over priced garbage in the future...can you tell I’m a wee bit angry? Oh well, Merry Christmas.

I've had problems with L.L. Bean, too. And it wasn't even Christmas. They couldn't find a watch that was in their catalogue, and they didn't have a catalogue in-store.
GEEZ!

Thanks for understanding - I apologize if my rant was a little off topic, lol. I know it’s minor in the big scheme of things, but it’s just such a disappointment when you realize that the Christmas gifts you purchased for a loved one won’t be under the tree.

Currently I ordered an item thru Newegg.com overnight while it made it to my town overnight it has sat on the FedEx truck for almost 2 days. I paid for a service that also stated a time for delivery and they didn’t follow thru as I am currently still waiting for it. My point is rather then keep the funds they got when I paid for the shipment, I think it justifed in refunding me the difference based on the cost of what it would have been had I chose the method of shipment that this incident reflects rather then an overnight charge for something that has taken 3 days and still ongoing. Instead FedEx is pocketing the money and treating its customers second rate.
