Per the website Savejourneyman, this excellent, trend-setting show will not be renewed for another season. Fans are fighting-back. Another example of the low brain-power in the network broadcast suites.
Sad. This is one of the few shows I watch on a regular basis. At least it had an original premise, unlike most of the other shows that have been running for umpteen seasons.
I think the same thing is going to happen to ‘Pushing Daisies’. Yep, the two best shows.
Never heard of it.
Never heard of it. Can someone provide a very brief synopsis of the show?
It's too much like Quantum Leap - it gets lost in the mix.
I guess I'll have to watch reruns of the much superior "Quantum Leap" to get the same type of storylines.
I am so p*ssed. My husband and I love this show! I was p*ssed that The Traveler was cancelled. Intelligent shows usually never stand a chance.
Of course the actually good shows are the ones that go and they add yet another “reality” show like Battle of the Choirs or whatever the crap they put on in the Chuck timeslot.
There’s nothing stupid about the suits, the ratings suck. The job of the suits is to get viewers and sell commercials, the best show ever made without viewers is a show that should be canceled. Journeyman debuted at #43 sank to #80 and has “rebounded” to the mid 60s. Cancel it.
“this excellent, trend-setting show”
excellent?
trend-setting?
Everyone I talked to about the show said they thought it was “goofy”, “repetitious” and “seemed like a cut and paste job”.
Loath as I am to defend the Hollywood suits, this usually comes down to the free market.
People claim that they want intelligent, challenging shows, but they don't actually watch them.
Daisies ratings are a lot better than Journeyman. Hard to tell if they’re where ABC wants them, but the numbers could be good enough. Of course with the strike now and the strikes to come next year it’s entirely possible the entire 2007 season will just be thrown away for a fresh start January 2009.
Star Trek was exactly one of those shows, the fans, resurrected it the rest is history.
I am one of those fans and as to the other garbage on tv this is very interesting and beyond the reality tv realm, fantasy at is best as far as I am concerned.
That is sad. I now watch only three TV shos (other than sports). The Unit, Numbers and Journeyman and Numbers is getting boring.
I suppose they need more room for another realitytrash or sitgarbage show to attract the brainless.
Folks - as much as I like Journeyman...IT’S JUST A TELEVISION SHOW!
Kevin McKidd was great in HBO’s Rome. I had a feeling he was going Stateside, because he’s got charisma. I watched a couple of episodes because the premise isn’t that bad. You could call it a present-day Quantum Leap.
One thing to notice @ the end: the production company is called Left Coast Productions. I saw a link on TV Guide before that just like Bionic Woman, they have a ratings problem so this wouldn’t surprise me.
Ping.
“Journeyman” is a time-travel story. Sorry, but I am a sucker for almost anything of this genre. Replaying history, with a change or twist, and the results of anachronisms (like the introduction of the high-resolution digital camera).
With what you knew now, if you could go into the past, what would you change? Really a great springboard for editorial comment on so many things today. But did some things really have to happen, no matter what?
At the time Star Trek’s cancellation was just, the ratings stunk. The reason it turned into a license to print money is the fans it gained in syndication.
I’ve been a fan of many good shows that were canceled. But I don’t blame the “suits”, it’s a numbers oriented business, shows that don’t get the numbers get canceled. People forget what the business of TV is all about, the job of the “suits” is to deliver our eyeballs to commercials, we are the end product, a show that isn’t creating enough end product is a failure.
As for Journeyman I wasn’t interested in it from the start. The first commercial I saw I said “oh look Quantum Leap without Dean Stockwell”, and given that all 5 seasons of Quantum Leap WITH Dean Stockwell are available on DVD that just didn’t draw me in.
