CINCINNATI — Four men whose bodies were found in a suburban apartment appeared to have been beaten then methodically stabbed in the heart, a coroner said Monday.
Hamilton County Coroner O'dell Owens said two of the men were related and all four were from the same town in Mexico, but he declined to release their names and said he did not know the name of the town.
"There is some question about the quality of the identifications," Owens said, noting that no identification of any sort was found in the apartment in suburban Sharonville.
Only one wallet was found, and it contained $1,300 but no ID, Owens said.
"That's a lot of money to leave behind," he said. Receipts found in the apartment appeared to show that the men were sending money to relatives in Mexico. One receipt was for $2,500, Owens said.
Police found the bodies Thursday after an owner of a construction company, Abc Precision Masonry & Concrete, reported one of his usually reliable employees had not shown up for work in several days.
A minivan believed to be connected to the four workers was found Friday at a grocery store. A tip from a passing motorist led police to the van, about five miles from the apartment where the bodies were found, said Sharonville police Lt. John Cook.
The victims had been dead a week to nine days, Owens said. Toxicology test results would not be available for several days, he said.
The victims lived quietly in the apartment complex, sleeping on mattresses on the floor with little other furniture, Cook said.

The City of Cincinnati is LIBERAL. There is no spinning it. And no website’s view changes who the mayor is. You can’t get more leftwingnut than Mark ‘I can’t throw’ Mallory. Or overtly racist, btw.
And btw, Jean Schmidt doesn’t represent Cincinnati, Chabot does. Boehner doesn’t rep Cincy either, he’s up in West Chester.
Pardon my ignorance, but how can a city be in two different counties? This seems like a admistative nightmare. Possibly different tax rates, county ordnances, etc.
I don’t know, but IIRC we have one city located in 3 different counies. Loveland is in Clermont, Hamilton and Warren, I think.
Again, you’re confusing Cincinnati with metro Cincinnati. Cincinnati is a relatively small city of 330,000 in a metro area of almost 2 million.
Cincinnati is liberal.
Metro Cincinnati is VERY VERY conservative.
It is an administrative nightmare, I’m sure, but it does happen around here. SW Ohio loves its absurd local government structures....
It could be worse.... Loveland, OH (about 2-3 miles from Sharonville) actually lies in 3 counties - Hamilton, Warren, and Clermont. That is the city proper that overlaps three counties, not just the zip code or anything like that....
But you’re right - Sharonville in Hamilton County and Sharonville in Butler County do have different tax rates and county ordinances. Some rates are the same, but some are different. Schools, for instance are the same, as it is the same district, but Hamilton County has the Zoological Park and Museum levies....
The real nightmare is probably with tax reassesments. By Ohio law, reassessments are not allowed to increase revenue - they simply reapportion it. So if your house increases in value by the mean amount, there’s no increase in tax. But they have to calculate the mean amount for each individual tax. So the mean increase in assessed value may be higher on your home for the school taxes than it is for the zoo tax. So you may end up paying less in school taxes but more in zoo taxes. It generally washes out pretty even, but it is an administrative nightmare, I’m sure....

December 21, 2007 - Four Mexican construction workers found stabbed to death in their Ohio apartment had just taken out large amounts of cash to take back to Mexico for the holidays, a relative and a local parish priest said Thursday.
The four illegal migrants were found Dec. 13 in their apartment in the Cincinnati suburb of Sharonville.
