CINCINNATI Four men whose bodies were found in a suburban apartment appeared to have been beaten then methodically stabbed in the heart, a coroner said Monday.
Hamilton County Coroner O'dell Owens said two of the men were related and all four were from the same town in Mexico, but he declined to release their names and said he did not know the name of the town.
"There is some question about the quality of the identifications," Owens said, noting that no identification of any sort was found in the apartment in suburban Sharonville.
Only one wallet was found, and it contained $1,300 but no ID, Owens said.
"That's a lot of money to leave behind," he said. Receipts found in the apartment appeared to show that the men were sending money to relatives in Mexico. One receipt was for $2,500, Owens said.
Police found the bodies Thursday after an owner of a construction company, Abc Precision Masonry & Concrete, reported one of his usually reliable employees had not shown up for work in several days.
A minivan believed to be connected to the four workers was found Friday at a grocery store. A tip from a passing motorist led police to the van, about five miles from the apartment where the bodies were found, said Sharonville police Lt. John Cook.
The victims had been dead a week to nine days, Owens said. Toxicology test results would not be available for several days, he said.
The victims lived quietly in the apartment complex, sleeping on mattresses on the floor with little other furniture, Cook said.

You are seeing the whole picture. Not everyone is capable of that.
Peasants don’t carry 1300 around.
Sure they do, as they generally don't have bank or checking accounts. Besides, 1300 ain't much nowadays and barley pays a months rent in a flop house.
Where the heck do you live?:’) Around here, 1300 will get you a fancy apartment, and utilities with enough left over to live off of.
In and around the area where the murders happened, that is about 2 months rent on a decent 2 bedroom apartment.
I just read that ICE is assisting with the investigation.
Hmmm, sounds like an upscale neighborhood. I guess this guy was just saving up for a 2007 Ferrari Fiorano.
True, but he’s also clearly confusing Cincinnati with a suburb.
Anyone who knows the area knows that there is a huge difference between Cincinnati and its suburbs. Cincinnati is liberal, its suburbs EXTREMELY conservative.
That’s why the Cincinnati Metro area was the fourth largest source of funds for Bush in 2004, after Dallas, Houston, and NYC (IIRC). In terms of zip codes, Bush got the most from 10021 (NYC) followed by 45243 (Cincinnati suburb).
There is a world of difference between Cincinnati and its suburbs, and these crimes occurred in the suburbs...
Rent in that complex is $679-$729 per month for a two bedroom.
good
Hey, and that comes with neighbors that have no furniture and sleep on mattresses on the floor. Nice.
that’s ok - they should go home. It’s the right thing to do... but only as long as they are also investigating the crime and immigration issue as well.
They should go home but I wish they had gone home sooner.
4 dead Mexicans in southern Ohio is General/Chat; Local News? Sad.
Did anybody notify the Mexican Consul? Maybe they’ll pay for the autopsies?
IMO, the most important thing about this is that they were “beaten” then “methodically stabbed in the heart.” I doubt this was gang related. It appears more cult related.
If you are close to the situation, be very careful. Cults and witch craft are not uncommon.
When the Maras move into a new area they tend to announce their presence with violence.
Aztlan ?
‘Anyone who knows the area knows that there is a huge difference between Cincinnati and its suburbs. Cincinnati is liberal, its suburbs EXTREMELY conservative.’
Really. Explain Amberley Village, a very wealthy ‘old money’ neighborhood on the East Side, that has held fundraiser for the Clinton’s at least six times at Stan Chesley’s home, and raised millions of dollars for the DNC and its candidates.
