Hey, Texan here that needs to fly to Milwaukee on Sunday.
What should I expect? Short sleeve weather?

“Your truck still uses a carburetor?”
Yeah. It’s a 78 chevy pickup.
Got the carb on but now the gas lines are frozen.
Problem is, there’s no way I can put it in the garage to thaw because it’s out in the middle of the field and I have nothing to tow it with.
Guess I’ll have to run new lines and try again tomorrow.

The snow has arrived to southern Michigan with a vengence.

Put an occasional can of Heet in the tank. Gas line freeze up is caused, as I'm sure you know, by condensation in the gas tank. Heet is just alcohol (Methanol, I think) that will mix with the water and make it combustible. Of course, none of that helps if the gas lines are frozen. As, again, I'm sure you know.

I just bought the truck from a guy who said it was parked for about a year, and, not thinking about the condensation, I just put another 5 gallons of gas in it to try to get it running.
It just didn’t occur to me to add gas line antifreeze because it was still pretty warm out.
Won’t make that mistake again. If I ever get it running that is.
“Aren’t vehicles fun?”
Well, they can be.
I just built a garage to restore an 84 Corvette I just bought as well. Unfortunately, I can’t get the car in the garage because it isn’t running and I don’t have enough ‘hands’ to push it in, so, it’s going to sit in the snow for a while until I can convince my son-in-laws to come over and help.
Oh, well.

I am in Indianapolis and I tell you it is not going to happen. My guess is 5-6 max with the evening sleet and rain taking away much of the moisture needed for that 17 in numberGood call.

Thank you, weather has been a hobby of mine since I was child. I have a least 10 meteorological sites on my favorite places that I watch regularly in the winter.
