My Wife and I are Turning 40 Tomorrow...

Posted on 12/15/2007 6:16:49 AM PST by big truck

We met in college. I was from Pennsylvania, she was from Oregon. We both worked in the cafeteria.

Somehow the topic of birthdays came up - she was born in December, so was I. She was born on the 16th, so was I. She was born in 1967, so was I. She was born at 10:40 am (pacific time), I was born at 1:58 pm (eastern time). Given the time change, she is 18 minutes older than I am. Any freeper advice as we crest the big hill tomorrow?

Be happy. Life gets better as you get older.

Your situ is very similar to wifey's and mine (except that we were born in 1947)...I'm an April 30, and she's a May 8 -- so every year I have a "younger wife" for a week.

Your forties should be just fine...the longer-to-heal aches and sprains won't kick in for another decade!

I am feeling a little old this morning; son turned 39 yesterday....

How long have you been married to your other wives?

Insert Mormon joke here. Or are they illegal now?

Already told her that was in the plans. I want to get a baseline on where we are - top to bottom, front to back, inside out, and upside down. I also want to have as much medical info for our daughters to draw on when she and I are no longer around.

I’d suggest spending both those milestones and (at least) the 18 minutes in between doing something you can do only with each other.

If you live close enough to your college, go have lunch in the cafeteria where you met. I bet if you call ahead and tell them the story, someone would be willing to surprise her with a couple of cupcakes with candles.

Then go to the library and make out in the stacks (Don’t tell me you never did).

"It’s a bigger deal to my wife for some reason..."

Give her this for a birthday present and let her know .. it just don't matter any more.

I’m only twenty five, and I get AARP crap.
I even have my own card.

Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster, PA.

There's a joke in there somewhere but i'll save it on account of your birthday and all.

On the way to Gettysburg we stopped in Lancaster and there was a terrific antiques store there. The east has so much better antiques than we have out here in CA. We picked up some stuff from that store. Spent hours in there.

My grandfather was born in Butler, so were my other ancestors going way back to the Revolution. Lafayette spent time in Butler.

But my grandfather moved to Cleveland in the 20's and that's where my father was born and myself as well. But Pennsyvlania is a beautiful state. We vacationed there a lot when i was a kid.

Happy Birthday to you and your wife. Celebrate in style. You've reached a good age. You might feel different in a good way.

It’s a bigger deal to your wife because men get more “distinguished” as they get older, and we women just get “older.”

How many commercials do you see for men about wrinkles, weight and hair color?

Our society puts a lot of pressure on women to remain young-looking. I know, I’m a 47 year old woman and hanging in there so far. My 30th high school reunion is this summer and I wonder how many of my fellow graduates are considering Botox injections. Yikes!

They might be twins separated at birth. Chew on that one for awhile.

Lol, you always come up with those witty replies!

I'll be 60 (or 15) in Feb.

Being a "leap baby" won't stop the shock of seeing how your health insurance rates kick up a heavy notch; ditto with term life insurance....that's the biggest downside to rolling into a new decade.

Honey, I’ve got underwear older than you two!! You’re not even halfway up the hill yet, much less near the crest! Relax and enjoy the climb. And let me tell you for future reference, the trip down the other side is much easier!

Always look ahead to the next “thing”. Don’t dwell on forty; you’re probably not even half-way through your life. Go get ‘em!
