Private conversations with moderators (vanity)

Is there a standard procedure here for having a private conversation with a moderator?

"Those contacted usually have been involved in Freepathons" I've been involved in the Freepathons for some time now, but my best chance to get the attention of the mods is an uncouth comment. I get a pleasantly worded missive like "don't post that crap in news/activism." Sometimes I get a cryptic notice like "comment #3 removed by moderator." Otherwise, the whole process is mysterious.
