It really pains me to see some of those vicious anti-Mormons attacks we see on Free Republic disguised under the “freedom of speech. Attacking people based on their Mormon faith is really disgusting and it is an insult to this great forum. People who do not like Governor Mitt Romney based on his positions are free to express their opinion as such, but people who attack him because he is a Mormom should be ashamed of themselves and must not be allowed to do so.
I greatly hope that Free Republic members and moderators will get together and help in stopping this anti-Mormon vitriol, this great Free Republic must not be tainted by these shameless acts.
Now come on, what someone professes to believe spiritually is, GENERALLY, irrelevant to what they profess politically. My beef with Romney is that he changes his politics with every opportunity. At lest he doesn’t change his religion with every opportunity; and by the way, I’m an Episcopalian (for all the gay-lesbo crap my Church is going through) - and not all snotty. You would like me.
Exactly. Pointing out the truth and the differences between christianity and mormonism is NOT attacking them.

Your position is clear-- lucidly and civilly stated, and correct. Do not feel obliged to explain yourself further to the bigoted ones. They understand full well what you are saying, they choose to lie and pretend they don't get it simply because they just don't want to stop smearing Romney and his faith.

Thank you. Whatever one feels about the Mormon faith, most of the people who belong in that faith are pro-family, pro-conservatism and pro-life. They are our allies, not our enemies. They vote with Republicans in large numbers.
Debating doctrinal issues belongs in another venue, not here. In here, we all want liberalism defeated and it won’t happen if we’re busy taking potshots at our political friends.
Beating up on Romney for being part of a church that practiced polygamy is no different than beating up on Giuliani for having the same religion as several pedophile priests. Nobody’s glass house is totally pure so remember that before you begin casting stones.
check the Catholic threads. I think more people attack Catholic doctrine than do Mormon doctrine.
I am sure a guy with a quarter billion dollars can deal with it.
BTW, only "bashing" I've seen is this complaint that Mormons reject the Nicene Creed and so they are bad ~ but many Protestants reject the Nicene Creed, and even groups like Barak Obama's non-Christian Christian Liberals (or whatever they are) probably don't care.
I'd bet you could go through the whole lineup and find that the ONLY candidate who really cares about the Nicene Creed is Giulianni.
He's certainly not getting my vote on that account ~ maybe yours?
