I need to ask for you guys to put someone in your thoughts and prayers.
Someone I work with at a site, a young black woman with 2 little boys under 4 was diagnosed with skin cancer when she was pregnant with the second boy last year.
Because she's so dark, the skin changes had gone undetected for years, and they got worse when she got pregnant the second time. Even the Drs were baffled with her skin problems at first, and she got lots of wrong diagnosis' and treatment, up until about a month before the baby was born and one Dr. actually did a skin biopsy.
She's been undergoing extensive treatment for the last year and a half for melanoma, and this week, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and was told that she won't live to see her boys grow up.
BTW, she's yet to miss much work being sick. She's a sweet person and a very hard worker. And she LOVES her boys. They boys are cute, spoiled, and as well mannered as a 4 year and 18 month old can be :)
Sadly, her family is the pits, the boys father is not a great guy (we won't go there) and shes also freaking out about what will happen to her boys if and when she dies. There is an Aunt and Uncle who are great folks and willing to take the boys. We're all encouraging her to hurry up and get her legal ducks in a row.
Anyhow, she keeps going out to the parking lot to sit in her car to cry. And different co-workers go out to sit with her and bring her back inside. We have decided to do everything we can to cheer her up. But it's put a pall over everything....we're all trying to find ways to help her and the boys.
Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

Almighty Father, strengthen this lady in her time of trial, help her to rely on you, to find someone to care for her boys that they may grow also to rely on you. Heal her if it be your will, and make her whole. I ask this in Jesus’ Holy Name, Amen.

Prayers for your friend and her kids.
I certainly will be praying for your co-worker and sweet young mom. Perhaps to get her connected with a good church that can help her walk through the legal processes she needs to go through to protect the boys....

I will remember this woman and her family in my prayers.
Prayers for your friend. I lost my brother to cancer which began as a melanoma. I undersramd her fears and advise she get a family attorney asap.

Is there any way to get her to different specialists first to see if someone can give her a longer life?
Next, is there any way for her to work with a great attorney who can even possibly talk to the father to get him to give up custody - so that she can arrange for auntie and uncle to be the ones to whom she’d leave her boys if the worst happened?

I’m so sorry to hear about your friend. I will be praying for her, the children, and her family during this unknown and difficult time. My hope & prayers are that she’ll beat this cancer and live a very long/healthy life with her wonderful children.

The suggestions for a second opinion are great— even though she’s pretty burnt out on Dr.s right now, I think that is very important.
And the lawyer issues we’ll press with her....no matter what happens, she does need to resolve this.
