Tommy Tuberville May Be Next Univ. of Arkansas Coach (10 year/$37 million deal)

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- It's been a crazy week for Hog football fans. On Monday, Houston Nutt resigned.

And before the week is out, Arkansas may have a new coach ready to roll.

The story has taken a few wild turns this week, but multiple sources, one of which is within the Arkansas Athletic Department, confirmed Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville is in line to be the Razorbacks next head coach.

Both Tuberville and his agent, Jimmy Sexton, have denied any agreement is in place.

Sexton was at the Cowboys game Thursday night in Texas, where Hog alum and team owner Jerry Jones lives.

To get Tuberville would require a lot of money, officials said. His buyout with the tigers is $6 million.

But all indications are that Tuberville is the man Arkansas wants. Talks are ongoing, but the source reported a possible 10-year deal worth $37 million.

Isn’t he the one that raised the stink about Auburn tampering with Louisville’s coach?

Being an Auburn fan, I’d hate to see Tuberville go UNLESS he came to LSU and we could ship Les Miles out of here!

NO, it was Auburn’s AD, President and one particularly powerful board of trustee member who tried to hire Louisville’s then coach, Bobby Petrino, without having first fired Auburn’s coach Tuberville. The scheme (called “jet-gate” by some) blew up in their face and Tuberville’s hand was strengthened. His team went 13-0 the next season as well. Tuberville never publically raised a “stink” as you say, but apparently he did come out much stronger and with a $6 million buyout clause plus a raise. The president resigned shortly thereafter as did the AD.
