BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU's national title hopes were crushed by a Heisman-worthy performance.
Darren McFadden rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another to lift Arkansas to a 50-48, three-overtime victory over the top-ranked Tigers on Friday.
Peyton Hillis also scored three TDs, the last in the third overtime. Felix Jones ran for the critical 2-point conversion to make it 50-42 Razorbacks (8-4, 4-4 SEC).
LSU (10-2, 6-2) responded when Matt Flynn found Brandon LaFell for a 9-yard TD, but Matterral Richardson intercepted the 2-point conversion attempt, and Arkansas' bench emptied onto the field in triumph.
McFadden, last year's Heisman Trophy runner-up, rushed for 206 yards 32 carries and now has 1,725 yards rushing this season. No doubt there are West Virginia and Ohio State fans who'd vote for McFadden for Heisman if they could.

The nice thing about the SEC is the fact that they can field great teams. Plus have very exciting games. LSU/AR is a case in point.
Les Miles can’t go to Michigan fast enough! Go Les Go!
I would agree that the SEC is the strongest conference this year, but I stand my assertion that Ohio State would be favored against all of them, especially on a neutral field.
ML/NJ
Miles made some terrible calls in that game. Most didn't have an impact on the final score, but at the time they were bizarre.
Right now, so many highly-ranked teams losing could make even a Plus One four-team playoff difficult do seeding. We won't know the final BCS #1 to #4 until after next weekend's conference championship games.
Miles has made odd calls in almost every game. Bizarre is a good word for it. Some of his decisions in the game vs. Alabama were unbelievable. Nick Saban really outcoached him, not that it is a difficult feat.
: )
Poor LSU....
Ole mIss grad here
Neither is the Big 12...
Both have 3 to 4 teams in the top 15...if I'm not mistaken.
Ohio State in the BCS championship?
I don’t see why not.
Ole Miss grad here too. Grad in ‘75 but born and raised in Arkansas.
Kansas/Missouri will be big tomorrow night.
One will advance.
Which ain’t necessarily good. It hasn’t been good to be #1 or #2 this year. It’s the kiss of doom.
Congrats man! I watched that from start to finish. Arkansas has a knack for overtime. (Except against the Vols of course) ;^)
Wow. I had hoped my ASU Sun Devils still had a shot, but USC humbled them. Unfortunately, I think Ohio State will sneak back in.
Hmm. I like that Independence bowl matchup. A&M vs Alabama will be a good game. I am hoping Ark will get a better bowl bid than prdicted here on the basis of today’s upset and McFadden’s Heisman prospects.
congrats.
right up there with the sox, pats, celts, and slowly but surely the bruins
