I urge you to reconsider your decision to leave. I’ve been an FR regular for more than a decade (first as Elwoodp; now as Lapster), and I find it an invaluable site both for news and commentary.
I’m sure you have been abused, as have we all, by a small contingent here that seems to take great joy in gestapo-like puerile behavior. They take some repugnant joy in hurling insults rather than engaging in serious debate and consider invective some sort of perverse artform.
But, as I say, they are a small contingent. And they, too have their rights, regardless of how badly they may abuse them. So, again, I urge you to stay and enjoy the rich fellowship of those of us who enjoy FR and take our responsibilities here seriously.
My tagline says it all for me.
I only come here to check the knews, post to my ping lists but rarely ever comment anymore.
At this point, I will keep my thoughts about whom I like in the election to myself, least I be banned if that Candidate is deemed “unsuitable” at some future date.
If you want to know about Homebrewing, be put on the Ann Coulter list or something else safe, I will discuss it.

I would encourage you to come back just after the election to watch the carnage. It should be quite a spectacle, and one of the few reasons I’m sticking around. We’ve already lost so many good and longtime freepers that it’s hard to recognize the place anymore. It’s just not the same.
There’s a pretty good chance that Rudy will be elected, and if so, FR is going to pretty much self-destruct over it.
Not to mention the back-biting and blame-laying if it turns out that Hillary wins.
Interesting that one of the few things that a person might have reservations about discussing on this political website is politics.
For instance I, for one, am personally opposed to abortion. But I am far more opposed to a government that thinks it is it’s right or duty to regulate the lives and private parts of women.
I love the way people talk about smaller, limited, less intrusive government unless it has anything to do with their own personal hot spot.
Abortion is a moral issue. It is a family issue. It is a religious and social issue.
But it is not a matter of law.
Rudy, imho, is not ready to be president. The rest of America is not just an extension of the five boroughs.
He would, however, be a good veep choice, and steal alot of votes from the Hildebeast.

There is no unity of opinion on everything here. I’m not supporting Giuliani as of this moment, but that’s why we have primaries. If you’ve been personally maligned, that is unfortunate. I’ve been personally maligned myself many times on FR, but I never considered it a problem with the entire sight.

My gawd how come so many want to give up instead of working hard for a real conservative like Duncan Hunter. I never saw so many people complain, whine, moan that we cannot win and give up the fight for our country and say well it must be Rudy.
I say NO way, never. I am only a girl, but I sure see a lot of weak men already to give up and I just don't get it. What happened to the American spirit to work hard for what a person believes in and not just throw in the towell. Voting for Rudy IS throwing in the towell.

I get blasted all the time. Stay and keep your principles. I certainly don’t agree with your stance on Guliani and I might think that you are misguided but that does not mean that you don’t have the right to say what you think is right, but that also means that you should be willing to hear that you are perceived wrong from others. This is not a time to run away. Please stay and do the great work that you have have done in the past or at least come back after a SHORT break.

Personally I think FR might have some trolls that have gained access to certain parts of the website and are acting as mods, then again I have absolutely no idea how many mods Jim even uses or the security firewalls etc. I have posted comments and an occasional image that were against the guidelines, some slipped through and some not. And lately FR has been in the spotlight and we have had some pretty descriptive labels thrown at us, we are also strong enough to be a worrisome factor to many groups and or political idealists and they have definitely advertised their displeasure of seeing their dirty underwear on a website of such as ours.
I also think that because of the rules that are here we have not totally dropped to the depths of a redneck pissing contest forums board.
