Need Computer Help (vanity)

Posted on 11/14/2007 11:11:33 AM PST by Lucky9teen

I'm at work and I am operating Windows XP Professional version 2002 with Service Pack 2 on an Intel Pentium 4 CPU with 2.6GHz and .98GB of RAM.

I keep getting the error message, after my computer has been on a while, even after I'm closed out of most of my programs, that states:

Network drive:\ not accessable. Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.

And other times I get an error message that there isn't enough memory to complete the command/operation.

That's the mem and that is ok. Is their a number bouncing around in the column of double zeros? "00" Is that indicating a number that changes a lot, say like going from 1-4 up to 20-45 and then back to 1-4?

Well, I changed the virtual memory...thank you, I’ll see if that helps.

As for the start up items, there is nothing on there that isn’t needed...

I’ve been using Ver. 7 since it came out (for months now) and only recently started having problems

Ok. It's probably ok then and there is something else that is interfering. The real key it to clean up that startup list in msconfig. It can resolve conflicts and free up system resources. It will be hard to tell what the actual issue is till that is done. The good news it should only take about 5-10 minutes to adjust the startup list. But you need admin rights to the local computer (your computer) to do that.

OK, no prob with the Anti-virus. Sometimes McAfee (another AV program)will get corrupt and run all the time slowing the computer way down.

Anything else in that list where the "00" number is going up and down?

You are certain you have 73.2 gigs REMAINING? Sorry to repeat myself, but XP gets wonky if you have little HD room left.

ok, if the virtual mem is reset and the startup list has been adjusted use it normaly and watch for a reoccurrence.

If it is still happening but not as often there is probably a program that is having "memory leak". Uninstall and reinstall of the program usually fixes the problem. Identifying the program that is causing it is the key.

Ping me if somthing blows up...

Are there other network resources you can connect to without issue? Specifically, network shares NOT hosted on the problem server?

Not that I know of...

I believe everything is hosted on that one server, so when I get the error, I can only access my local drives

Yea, that is pretty clean for the startup. Bad new is it doesn't account for 47 processes. If that is all that is on in the startup list your number of processes should be around 35...

You might try Ad Aware and Spybot. Run them both.

cidaemon.exe is an indexing service which catalogues files on your computer. Usually it is ok but sometimes causes problems. You can try switching it off like this... Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, Indexing Service, (right click it) click on Properties and set the Startup type to Manual, then click Apply, OK.

ACD35E seems to go back to a Laptop Battery.

The other stuff is normal...

Not that I know of, but I haven’t asked around...

Usually when there are computer issues, especially something like this, I’ll hear about it...

Ask around. I am wondering if the file server itself is wonky.

It probably is, considering the guy running it. ;)

So far though, no one else is having this issue.
