Glad to “pepper” you and others with pings, so long as the topic matter isn’t objectionably salty....

Now, that our salad days are upon us, lettuce begin the puns. I am sure we will come up with some 24 carrot puns, plus some that leave the English language radished. If we can consistently make bad puns, we may even earn a decent celery, doing so. Of course, we could end up like the cucumber, in a real pickle. We will have to see how many we can spinach. There are some cabbage heads, who will insist we are violating Cole’s law. Perhaps, this is all due to a leek at the very highest levels. Maybe someone can turnip some new puns.

I relish your post, I’m just trying to ketchup on this thread, please don’t think I’m being a hot dog.

Romantically speaking I saw sage and chose Rosemary and by damn it was about thyme. I’ve never viewed anyone that could beet her. She does make a very nice celery and you should see her “house” dressing, hose up to here, and that’s the naked truth.

And who made the salad?

"Caesar made the salad!"

(anyone else remember that commercial ... that was practically prehistoric history for TV ...)

That was the phrase used for Ceaser Salad. Unfortunately it’s the question I used here without thinking. You’re right.

This 2400 year old recipe was actually for a *diet* salad dressing, called 500 islands.

[shameless ripoff alert]

...but of course, the Caesar salad was named by/for Caesar Cardini. ;’) Still funny though.

[snip] April 5, 1990 — Paul Newman wins a court victory over Julius Gold to keep giving all profits from Newman foods to charity.

[snip] Mr. Gold contends that between 1980 and 1983 he tested recipes and gave Mr. Newman advice on how to manufacture, bottle and market Newman’s Own salad dressing. In return, he says, he was orally promised a share in the company.
