QUESTION - If you had a million dollars

Posted on 10/29/2007 10:15:25 PM PDT by Bear_Slayer

If you had a million dollars to invest, where would you invest it and why there?

What would be the safest investment with the most interest and still be able to get at it relatively quick with little or no fees or fines?

Build a spec home in an attractive location. Use as little money as possible and borrow the rest. Even my brother can’t screw this up. I’ts easy to double your money.

Thanks, that was a very interesting insight to share. I have always wondered why Bill Clinton didn’t just hand the year’s Federal Tax Receipts in his 8 years in the White House to Hillary to invest in commodity futures.

Guess old Bill was in on the dodge.

Come to think of it. If Slick Willie didn’t trust Hillary with the Federal Tax Receipts, why should we?

That would be the safe way. T-bills would pay about 4 per cent. I could live on 40k a year (keep my job too) in interest and never touch the principal. Tough job but somebody has to do it.

I would short the ABX index for BBB- 2006 originations ,, they are currently at 17.94 down from 98+ last January... going to zero.

Actually all this damned intervention has me a bit whipsawed,, I was short a while back , now am long but only in the strongest leaders ... this can’t/won’t last long ... I will be short again by jan 2008 guaranteed, for the next 12 months “long is wrong”..oil has me spooked as does Iran ,, not to mention the banking sector...

So, now that you’ve gotten all of this advice, what are you gonna do with your one million dollar lotto winnings?

I’d use some of it to pay for my kids’ college education. Then I’d sock the rest away for retirement.

I’d buy 3 canal front homes (there are several) currently on the market in Merritt Island, FL. at about $275,000 to $300,000 each. These homes are generally 1,400 to 1,800 sf, 3/2/2 built in the 60’s and 70’s. Lying just west of Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, the canals lead to the intercoastal waterway and on to the Atlantic Ocean. Before the bust here, these homes sold $500,000 to $600,000.

10% Church, 10% philanthropy, 30% old age, 10% trust fund for each kid, 10% travel, 20% for current needs. A really good wood shop to make fun stuff to sell at Rennfests, and time to sleep late.

I like the monkey idea the best. I've always wanted a monkey . . . or a green dress, but not a real green dress.

Actually T-bills, or CDs look like the answer.
