I don't know how anyone can ignore the growing threat of the nutjobs in Iran. Venezuela, too, for that matter.

Iran Is Making a Greater Push Into Nicaragua
Monday , December 17, 2007

Iran is establishing a Central American foothold in Nicaragua, to the alarm of some U.S. state department officials, it is being reported.

The San Antonio News-Express said Monday that Nicaragua, with the backing of its Venezuelan ally, has been forging a new partnership with Iran.

Part of that relationship comes in the form of a $350 million deep-water port at Monkey Point on Nicaragua's Atlantic coast that is to extend across the continent to the Pacific Ocean. Iran has also recently opened an embassy in Nicaraguan capital of Managua.

Some state department officials are concerned that Iran's presence in Nicaragua would allow Tehran to stage strikes on American interests by deploying the terrorist group Hezbollah and Revolutionary Guard operatives already in Latin America, the Express reported.

Cargo-News Asia reported that the port, which is expected to provide connectivity to the ports in the East Coast of the United States and to Europe, could be a possible windfall for the poverty stricken country. The project is seen as an about-face for a country that has been reluctant to embrace foreign investment, it wrote.

Despite U.S. warnings, Latin America countries, such as Nicaragua and Venezuela have recently been cultivating ties with Iran. Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has met with Tehran officials several times this year to seek help with several major infrastructure projects. And on Monday Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez wrapped up a visit to the Islamic republic aimed at building a "strategic unity".

This comes as relations with the U.S. and its allies cool over attempts to try to force Iran to end its contentious uranium enrichment program.

Its really cold outside, and I sorta feel like I might be coming down with a cold or sumpin... not good, since the rest of this week is filled with parties and balls. So, I can't be sick.. or even worse, look like I'm sick. LOL (Sheesh... I have the prettiest dresses for this week... not gonna be sick, not gonna be sick....) Soooo, guess I'll go make something warm to drink and get to bed early.

G'night, everyone. :)

Consolation? Michigan is 8-2 against the vaunted SEC in the past two decades. I seem to remember this new coach handing y'all your lunch more than once.

But I guess you're used to it..................

Oh no....can't be sick this week, what with all that going on! Hope you feel better fast.

It was absolutely beautiful here today...cool, but the sun wasa shining and a light jacket was plenty. I actually still have these silly hummingbirds. It's looking like they're planning to try and winter here. Dangdest thing I ever saw...hummers in the snow trying to drink from a frozen feeder. Of course, I'm having to make sure that there's a thawed one out.

I’m trying to figure out how to capture some of those pps photos.

It is easy LJ if you have PowerPoint. Just open the PPS in Powerpoint and save as JPEG, it will ask if you want to save all the slides, you say yes it it creates a folder with all them all.

Otherwise, tell me the ones you like and I will post them.

Alaskan Malamutes

They just look like my dog.

I know you can animate the light and make it flash red and green and perhaps move a few snow flakes.

Thanks Cardy! I’m pretty sure I just have the PPS viewer. That’s the case on these two computers and I’m pretty sure it’s the same with the laptop.

Thanks for the offer to post the ones I like. I’ll try to go through it later.

Power Point looks like tons of fun.

I have some goodies for you LJ. Wonderful pics and good music. Meanwhile, this one is very interesting:

Christian the Lion:

Christian is the name of a pet lion bought from Harrods department store in 1969. After about a year with his owners the lion had grown too big to remain with them. After a chance encounter with the stars of the film Born Free, the owners handed over Christian to the "Lion Man", conservationist George Adamson, in order to be rehabilitated into the wild in Kora National Reserve, Kenya. A movie titled Christian the Lion at World's End was made documenting the translocation of Christian from England to Kenya.

An emotional reunion between Man & Lion

Wow! Cardy, how beautiful. It must take a lot of your time to make a 2nd version that I can view and that is just the nicest, sweetest thing. Thank you. :)

Those scenes are simply incredible.

Thanks. I got about 10 hours of sleep last night and that helped a lot. I’ve also drunk tons of water, juice and green tea over the last 2 days. Much more of each than usual. LOL. Just got home from a local spa, I’d had an appt scheduled for a facial, mani/pedi this morning but waitlisted for a massage. When I got there they’d had a cancellation, so I got a massage, too. The sleep/spa combo must have been the magic cure... cause, I feel so much better today. Not 100% but close enough LOL

Gosh, cardy, that sorta made me tear up. That lion very clearly recognized the men who had raised him and showed his ... affection? for them. How amazing.
