NEW YORK (AP) -- Meet Paris Hilton, grown-up.

"Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties," says Paris Hilton. She says she's changed.

The 26-year-old socialite has vowed to change her party-girl image after serving a 23-day jail sentence in June for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

"There are a lot of bad people in L.A. Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties -- it was a fantasy," she tells Newsweek magazine in its October 22 issue, now on newsstands. "But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world."

Believe me, I never DREAMED of defending the Hilton Hedoness, but if she is being genuine, I think that she's off to a good start. Personal improvement before world improvement and all that.

Thank you.
It amazes me that a person expresses what sounds like a genuine desire to change their life for the better, and most of the responses in this thread are mocking and belittling her.

That's kinda sad.

Well her grandfather is doing just that, committing the hotel fortune to charity- and a good deduction on taxes at that.

Paris Hilton is improving, in small steps.
Give her time, she is only 26.
(though she has acted like she is still 16)

Misleading !

Barron Hilton is placing the family fortune in charity trust.

All previous trusts are anulled.
The whole family is disinherited.
Barron gets a massive tax write-off.

By the by, this Jerry Oppenheimer does not like The Hiltons,
so his info is probably laced with bias

No decent human being will get pleasure watching this young woman in anguish.

Only the vicious would enjoy watching that sight!
Never a fan of Hilton’s to beging with, my heart went out to her that Friday, June 8th

(and many others as well)

Wait, where is the medical evidence she has such an infection ?

Just because her storage bin had valtrex does not mean she has herpes- the medication is used for other infections as well.

Yes indeed, all of these posting hating a woman that has done nothing to us.

Some here will say: nothing for us either.

If she carries out the actions of philanthropy, does it matter what her internal motives are?
As long as she does the act of charity, that is what counts,
and what we should judge her by.

Ditto. She's entitled to a second chance if she is truly trying to turn her life around. Her mistakes were painful.

I am not a celebrity watcher, but I have been praying for her for about 3 years. I don't know why, I just felt moved to pray for a change in her life. Whenever I hear news about her, I pray for her to hear the word of truth and believe.

About 2 years ago, I heard a small Christian band member talk about an encounter he had with Paris in Austin, Texas. She and the crew were filming a Simple Life segment in a coffee shop where he was hanging out. He is a cute 20 something guy with a few Christian friends along. She started flirting with him and asked them to meet for drinks. He told her he did not drink because of his faith and Nichole Richie started teasing him. He asked if there was anything they would like for him to pray about. They just joked it off, but later, Paris came back over.

"Are you serious about the prayer thing?" she asked. The guy was startled, but assured her he was.

"Pray that I will be happy", she said.

This story was told to a concert audience by "random chance". I take this coincidence as confirmation that I am indeed to pray for Paris. I pray that she finds real joy, peace, and a relationship with Jesus. If she has had a change in her life, I will rejoice with all the angels. It may only be a passing fad, but again, it may be real. I will continue to pray for her.

The story you shared brought tears to my eyes...she is now on my prayer list too.

Part of me has always felt sorry for her, little girl lost is how I would describe her.

I have a friend that has been around a number of people that most of us may only read or hear about and she said Paris is a very nice girl. I believe what my friend said but Paris always seemed sad behind that smile.

Prayers for her....

From those photos and what I read from Gretat Van Susteren’s coverage, she was in great distress, partly due to the fact that prison infirmaries dispense lower than prescibed doses of psychotropic medication.
In short, they under-medicate you!
This I know from experience.

Paris Hilton was taking Adderrol at the time.
So, if they suddenly gave her a much lower dose, then she would have been going thru severe withdrawal symptoms.
In cases where people have gone cold turkey from Adderrol(and other benzodizapans) there have been a few deaths.
Would it make you happy if Paris had died in jail ?

Reminds me of what Brother Dave Gardner used to say about the "ultimate nuclear weapon" we were all fearing in the 60's. The question was: "Brother Dave....where's the best place to be when they drop "The Big One"?

His answer: "It don't make no difference as long as you can say 'What was that?'"

Oh, yes! Amen, dear hearts!

That is very compassionate of you.
You are a good Christian.
I do not know this young woman personally, I never met her,
but I would say she does respond to love, from her fans and strangers.
I would say she does not like being hated, though she has acknowledged that many hate her, she has done little until recently to fight her ‘bad girl’ image.
An image that we the public,(not just the press)tune into.

This girl has been a wayward soul; naive, blase, flaky.
I would say she is trying to change that image, I hope she continues.

I am not a religious man, but after that afternoon on June the 8th, I prayed for her every day until she was released.
As long as she avoids excess, does some good deeds, stays out of trouble, I’ll pray she has good life.
And I and not even a praying man!

What if it is not about the money ! ?

With the Hiltons, as well with all other celebrities and wannabe celebs- it is about being famous.

All of these ‘It Girls’ and most of there parents it seems want to be famous.
I guess to them, it is addicting.

Money is just a means to the ends

Really, maybe she is, maybe not.

Recently Brad Pit commented about her saying that she was blisfully oblivious. This was before her incarceration and after her May 4th sentencing .
