Not sure what model you are using, but most (older) Palm Pilots coe with only 8, 16, or 32 MB of on board memory. This means that it’s wise to have an expansion card. A 2GB is great. Just slip it in the slot and never remove it.
To look at any Microsoft document requires third party software like Documents To Go. Their office suite runs around $50.00 and you can buy it on line or at a local store that sells PDAs. I use it and it works great. I moved from a Palm m515 to a Treo 650 and the program works well on both.

I was thinking PalmOS vs. Windows....I’ve never tried it myself. There may be an application that does it though.
If the file is larger than your Palm’s memory capacity of conversion it’ll have be transferred directly to the card. If your Palm has Documents To Go installed, there is an option to allow you to do this. If the Palm doesn’t have DTG, you can’t view Word files.
“of conversion” = “after Documents To Go converts the file”

DTG is pretty handy for using Word & Excel files on Palm -- but only in a pinch. No way will the document be as legible/clear as it would be on a regular PC screen.
Use that Palm product as a paperweight. It's the only thing their stuff is good for.
I've owned two Palm products.
The only thing worse than their products is their service.

Just print the stuff out and carry it in a briefcase. :)
