Looks like we might have to wait to see Bella.

But then for me, Houston, TX is only 200 miles away...

Doesn't look like the movie is playing the first 2-3 weeks in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle/Portland)...

I just saw it at a screening at Heritage. It was really amazing.

Our priest spoke at every mass today about this movie and the importance of going to see it. It wasn’t a quick after thought either, it was at least a five minutes long talk. We also have posters up in the entrance of the church.

The Catholic Church I went to today had a pro-life table with flyers on the movie on one table...

One thing is to put flyers in the bulletin...

My family’s driving 100 miles to see Bella this Saturday. I iinsisted on it for my birthday treat (!) for the sake of my teenage boys, who need to see what life’s all about.

I was at that screening too! I’m a friend of the producer who spoke at that, and I’ve been promoting the movie as much as I can. I showed the trailer at a birthday party I attended on Saturday.

I guess if I had someone to go with, I could probably drive 200 miles to Houston this weekend.

But I need to get the movie to play in Lafayette.

One of the actors (Ali Landry) is from this area and attended the University in Lafayette, Louisiana...

The Bella Website is currently down...

I would imagine it is:

1. Overload by so many people going to the website on opening day, or

2. Pro-Abortion techies crashing the website. There may be some problem with DNS...

WEBSITE IS DOWN....

is down...

It may be that there are liberals/pro-abortion people who fear this movie enough to crash the website intentionally...

Of course, the server may not be able to handle the load on opening day, which might be a good thing...

Cardinal Rigali promoted the movie in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia...

A Positive Way to track this movie is to look at the stats from Box Office Mojo.

However, Box Office Mojo does not want the stats to be reprinted without their permission -- it is their proprietary information.

From what I saw, Bella seems to be doing very good based on the number of screens it is currently showing at.

There will be pressure to open it up to more screens if it successful. For example, big budget films usually start out at 1,000 to 3,000 theaters (screens) that it shows at on the movie's opening weekend. It is does great, more screens can be added. If it does poorly, then it will lose screens.

The fact the website for the movie crashed opening day seems to indicate quite a bit of interest in the movie.

I believe the movie is on pace for $1 million for opening weekend, which may be very good for a film showing at very few screens (considerably less than 500).

HERE IS THE LINK TO BELLA ON BOX OFFICE MOJO:

From Box Office Mojo, if one looks at the stat of Dollars per screen (which is dollars from the showings of a movie per theater screen it is shown at for a day), then Bella seems to be doing EXTREMELY well.

If it was a ranking for college football, it would be a BCS contender for the championship game...

That would mean a top 5 ranking show far this weekend...

BOXOFFICE MOJO is showing the film has done very well for each theater screen it was shown at. Only one movie this weekend did better than BELLA, and I imagine it was a movie that was heavily advertised.

All of the numbers point to a wider release, if Hollywood is in the business of making money (and the theaters)...

Bella is opening this week in Boston, MA, which was just announced today. Also, it will be in New Orleans, LA, in one week from Friday (November 16, 2007).

Maybe there can be action to get the website of the Archdiocese of Boston to post information about the movie Bella. The Archdioceses of Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver and San Antonio have already done this.

Looks like the movie is opening to a larger area gradually, and hopefully will be in a theater near me by Christmas...
