Grady Sizemore led off the first inning with a homer and Victor Martinez ripped a two-run single in the fourth as the Indians roughed up Yankees starter Chien-Ming Wang early tonight in Game 4 of their best-of-five series

What is it with some of the local athletes donning Yankee caps instead of their local team? Tom Brady (NOT a New Yorker as far as I know) was another one. He took a little heat for it. (But LeBron's from Akron; why a Yankee fan? Unless he was a "frontrunner"...)

even if it’s to be part of a broadcast team. I remember
Joe Torre doing color commentary for CBS Radio’s coverage
of baseball (Game Of The Week)

>>A high payroll might get you to the playoffs. Ref. the Yankees. But it won’t win you a world series ring.

Florida Marlins, 2003 (including Josh Beckett,
who pitched a dandy—complete game, IIRC—in the
deciding game 6)

So from this we can extrapolate that if Hitlery is elected POTUS, every team in America will lose from then on.

I guess the Toronto Blue Jays would win all the World Serieses from 2009-2013....or would that be 2008 to 2012.

I don't think the Yankmees would agree with your statement.

It’s not as bad as the bandwagon Red Sox Nation that appeared out of a vacuum in 2004. They win won World Series in 85 years and they think the whole country needs to care.

The Red Sox (and the Yankees) travel well. It's as simple as that.

Sour grapes.

I’m a lifelong Red Sox fan and live right in the city of Boston. Always a lot of sports talk all year long around here. I have never heard a Sox fan say anything unkind about Torre. The man is well respected and many Sox fans love the guy.

Agreed, and add Jeter and Mariano to the list as well. A-fraud, Juice Giambi, and Johnny Judas Damon can go to hell, though.

2006: Touted by some as having the best offense of all time, the Yankees after winning game 1 in a series that everyone and their mom thought they would sweep, the Yankee bats fall asleep including a stretch where they were shut out for 20 2/3 innings and lose the Division Series to the Tigers 3-1

and a big thank you to the curse for helping my tigers see the world series again. :)

You mean OnlyinMay Rod. He had a terrible series, as usual. He is a multi million dollar choke artist.
Yankee Fans please take a number before jumping off the bridge!

>>Mariano

When the Sox opened their 2005 season it was vs. the
Yankees and the Yankees had to see the championship
team from the previous year get introduced at Fenway Park
(I think the ring ceremony was then, too). Torre took it in stride—and when Rivera was introduced, he was cheered by
the Sox fans—and Mariano smiled and laughed. That was nice.
He could have been sullen and angry but they were acknowledging that they had beaten him the year before...
(mock cheers? but still kinda good natured)...
“to be the best, you’ve got to beat the best”. Rivera
was usually lights out but the Sox got past him.

And for smiling and taking the “cheers” well, Rivera
got OUR respect. Sure, the Sox beat him but there
were times when it was the other way around...so
it felt good to come out on top...THAT time.

The Curse of the Bambino was lifted almost immediately after Hillary came out: to declare herself a Yankee fan.

Now, with her and Julie Annie firmly in the Yankee$ corner, I hope and expect they will not win in this century.

Ya know, I would agree, but what about Mass? I mean, they have Chappaquidick Ted, Kerry the self-admitted War Criminal, Barney Fwank, and a host of other odious politicians.

But the Patriots are winning, and the Sox are still in it. Shouldn’t the Massachusetts teams be cursed too?

Yankees haters official ball caps are made for fans of most teams. They have the Orioles, Mets, Red Sox, Dodgers, and many other teams’ versions.

I wann’t going to buy one, until the Yankees filed a lawsuit against the owner of the Yankee hater website. So I bought several, and give them away as gifts.

And they were sure rubbing it in Mets' fans faces when calling "the FAN" (WFAN) and proclaiming their impending Championship. It will be fun to hear their misery tonight on Steve Summer's show.

I know what you mean...I recall some Yankee fan callers gloating about how it's okay, now the Mets fans can come and cheer for a REAL championship team...

Well, the 4 teams left have payrolls ranking 2nd, 26th, 27th and 28th. So I'd say that team chemistry is pretty important. The outlier there is the Red Sox. I remember the days when it was "24 players, 24 cabs" after games for them, but times have changed in the Fenway clubhouse. That's a team that pulls together now. John Henry hasn't just bought up expensive ball players, he's gotten ones with particular attitudes and gifts and fit them together.

I’m just a happy, optimistic Red Sox fan having a little fun on this blog. I say the Red Sox are going to pay the Indians back for that playoff game in 1948. You tell me to knock off the juvenile, trash talk. What’s up with that? I don’t want to jump to any conclusions about you because I don’t know anything about you, except for an unusually high degree of grumpiness for no known reason. Get rid of the raincloud over your head and come out into the sunshine. Good luck on your Indians, but the Bosox are going to thump them.
