My Dragon Fly and Me
If I could be a Dragon Fly and wing my way through the sky I would never be shy just me and my Dragon Fly!
By moonlight we ride the wind chase the comets tail for fun by day we would hide from the sun our fragile wings would come undone
On darkest nights we would use fireflies as our guide we would dip and we would glide through the heavens open wide and scatter diamonds in the night sky my Dragon Fly and me...
And we would wing past our lovers silent in the night... to kiss their face in our flight much to their surprise and delight my Dragon Fly and me in sight...
Such a view do we share away up here in the air of breezes soft through our hair my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

I lived in Newport Rhode Island while my husband was in OCS many moons ago and traveled to Boston..I haven’t really seen the lovely countryside and mts, and lakes except in films and when I cyber travel..We drove home to Texas in late November from Newport. I have been to New York a couple of times ...I observed glorious New England fall color from a plane once.
My longest most frequent travel has been west..and in California.

In the country of the mind in the town there is a nameless bridge the neighbors call 'the bridge' and shape directions from it, saying 'past the bridge, ' or 'down by the bridge'
down by the bridge, a mother playing with her daughter, a son listening to his father, a workman waving from the field down by the bridge
down by the bridge, wrongheadedness confessing, clumsiness regretting, down by the bridge
Come, friend, it's raining over here, but the sun is breaking through the clouds down by the bridge

Was On Golden Pond filmed in Maine? It's been ages since I've watched it. Living in New England is better than the movie.

Hi Meg, lovely picture, so typical of this area. Thanks.

Lovely, love the bridge picture. Thanks.

The play was based on Great Pond in Belgrade, ME where I grew up. The movie was actually filmed in New Hampshire. All of New England looks pretty much the same though.

Newport RI is a lovely town, you must have gotten to know it well. You don't see much of New England driving from Newport to New York, but at least you saw one the the best towns. I like to stay a few days at the hotel out on Goat island by the yacht club and take a cruise of the area.
I'm sure you remember the bridge.

That must be why I thought it was filmed in Maine. Thanks, I had a feeling you'd know.
Bah Hahbah doesn't look much like Brattleboro, but I know what you mean.

I don’t! I remember those mansions, great clam chowder, and my address.1 Red Cross Avenue..We had the attic apartment with another OCS couple..Of course the husbands were only there 24 hours a week at most . I bought some lovely clothes in a great little shop ..One of the OCS wives worked there and steered me to some nice replacements for my college wardrobe.
I was driving on the Pennsylvania turnpike going up and took a wrong turn and almost landed us in NYC..I had never driven outside the state before...My girlfriend was almost broadsided by a farmer turning as she passed him and we took a ditch detour fairly early in the drive..She made me drive the rest of the way!

Sara Teasdale is one of my favorite poets. She wrote straight from the heart and in doing so pulled no punches.

It might have not been so bad if you found yourself in NYC. You probably would find your way out soon enough. I’ve never driven in the city but have been driven into it a number of times and felt it doable.

I drove 40 miles the wrong way so I ended up driving an extra 80 miles..Not good when you are driving from Dallas Texas to Newport, Rhode Island..Of course we were so anxious to get there! We had not seen our husbands for what seemed like ages.

Hi, I see you and Lady Jag are up to your usual mischief! I love those covered bridges, there is a sense of timelessness when you walk across them, as if you could end up in another time on the other side.

That bridge running along the creek in the shadows of the trees above it is such a beautiful sight, as if time ran slower there.
I love the quiet and gentle hours before the dawn
when the tired earth rests as if in silent repose
where the gentle winds whisper of things unseen
and I find a small measure of some peace within
for then I can feel that pause to rest again
when time now slows and I am alive most keen
to the subtle scents of waking upon the nose
and the eyes behold the light that springs anon
