Totally agree. Wanda Jacksons Riot in Cell block #9 is a classic and was contemporary with the early work of Elvis. If he was the King, she was the Queen. How can she not be in? The HOF is a joke.

(No Dick Dale in the R&R HOF? - for shame!)

It was, the Rivingtons sued and got the songwriting credit. But to be fair, it was a crashing of Doin The Bird together with Pappa Oom Mow Mow, both of which were their songs.
But there are a lot of later songs that used the Pappa Oom Mow Mow line without paying the Rivingtons a dime.

I saw them in San Diego in 1986. They blew fuses twice. The lights went out. What impressed me the most is that I could tell that they were serious about their music and their entertaining, but they did not take themselves serious -- they were just regular guys that played great music.

My google search wasn’t so good either. Kenny Rogers did the first recording of Elvira but The Oakridge Boys had the hit.

Dick Dale should be in there. I think Jack Scott should be too.

Agreed with Rush, don’t care about KISS.
Same with Iron Maiden. Where’s their nomination?

Dick Dale is quite a character. He tends to speak of himself in the third person — as in (him speaking here) “Dick Dale invented surf!”. He’s the king and he knows it.

Don’t know, but is it true that records spin the other way down in Australia?

How about Deep Purple, are they in the Hall yet? Or the Guess Who? They are a tremendously underrated band.

“Dont know, but is it true that records spin the other way down in Australia?”
That’s why they put “They’re coming to take me away” in reverse on the flip side. It was for Australian release.
