Madonna, the Beastie Boys, the Dave Clark Five, Leonard Cohen, Afrika Bambaataa, John Mellencamp, the Ventures, Donna Summer and Chic have been nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. Five acts will make it into the Hall of Fame in 2008.

I nominate algore.
He deserves this as much as an Oscar or a Nobel.
He did invent the intrernet and thus the ability to download rock n roll.
I loved the Beasties up until they got into this whole ‘Save Tibet’ thing... although, I must admit that their 2004 record “To The 5 Buroughs” was brilliant...
Greatest band on earth.
I forgot to mention that Dennis Miller will be on 2 to 4.
Disco ain’t Rock and Roll
Amazing. John Cougar Mellowcrap is nominated and Buddy Holly isn’t in. That’s embarrassing, even for the recording industry.
He gonna kick Hannity's butt in the city.
Roxy Music bypassed again! :-( I can see the Rock Hall from my office.
That was our disappointment with the RRHF - hardly any mention at all of Chicago and the fact that they aren’t in the Hall of Fame already is a crime, considering all the other lightweights who are in.
This is the worst group ever!!!
Madonna, Donna Summer and Chic are disco/pop. Beastie Boys are (c)rap. “Afrika Bambaataa” is “world music”. Leonard Cohen is a Beatnik. Leaving the Dave Clark Five, John Mellencamp and the Ventures as the only rock and roll acts in the whole group. That means that they are two rock acts short of five.
“I loved the Beasties up until they got into this whole Save Tibet thing”
So you support communist China’s decimation of that country?
Piece of gossip: Madonna french- kissed Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys back in 1985, when the Beasties were the opening act on her Virgin Tour.
Now they’re both nominated for the RRHOF.
No Jethro Tull? It’s not really a rock n roll hall of fame, is it?
No, I do not.
But I also like my Manhattan rappers to remain just that — Manhattan rappers and not Dalai Lama wannabe’s...
Duane Eddy invented surf music.

Twisted minds think alike!
;-)
Slim pickin’s
I think that the Go-Go’s perfected surf music in the early 1980’s... especially guitarist Charlotte Caffey... she’s the brains behind that band...
