It was Billy Crystal in a cop buddy flick I can't recall. I do remember passing around a bottle of peppermint schnapps in the theatre so it was back in the '80's.

Wow, I forgot about Sky King. If I recall, Penny got tied-up in almost every episode. It was perfunctory, like Mike Nelson saying “And then I saw it.” in every episode of Sea Hunt.

Yep, Running Scared with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines. That was a nice subway car chase and there were plenty of great lines in that movie.
