Without doing the research, I say this is a BS stat....we don't lose 160 people a year to snakebite in the US....maybe a handful. Southern Asia on the other hand......
The real answer is that nobody knows for sure. You will hear a lot of statistics quoted, but it is generally accepted that there are roughly 8,000 venomous snakebites in the US annually. Fewer than 15 of those are fatal
