‘Bout Time They Did A Sequel PING
It took more than its share of my then-minimum wage lunch money. *sigh*
The MCP requests tech ping
Will there be a New TRON weapon? Will it leave buildings standing, but kill people?
Before they do a remake of any film, they should poll fans to find out what they liked and what they didn’t like in the original. For instance:
Logan’s Run: What was good:
Great costumes. Girls can still wear cute dresses. They don’t have to wear pants. And they can also have their hair styled. Jenny Agutter was magnificent. The Sandman costumes were also good, simple and distinctive.
A few of the other sci-fi bits, like the body dissolving spray.
What wasn’t:
Ridiculously expensive but still fake looking cityscapes, even though the city sets were really good.
“Box”, the robot, who in the previews seemed to be a major character, but in the movie got about one minute of screen time. Not a very threatening-looking robot either.
Those agonizingly low tech green holograms used during the interrogation.
The handguns had possibilities, but were mis-used and overused.
The scenes in the decrepit capitol building were almost embarrassing.
I hope it’s good. I love the original movie and the game (except for the motor cycle races) is superlative. I think I’d prefer a sequel to the game over the movie.
/obscure?
I bet they include blacks in the remake.
"They had a movie of the future called 'Logan's Run.' Ain't no n----rs in it. I said, well, white folks ain't planning for us to be here." - Richard Pryor
I liked both movies. I even bought the Logan's Run comic book (and still bought it after the serialization of the movie ended) and read the book it was based on. Fun to watch on tv sometimes. Saw Tron in the theaters, too, although that sometimes seems a bit hokey on TV, but I guess that was a movie that was made for CGI.
I'll probably see them both....
