Kathy Griffin's Bravo series "My Life on the D-List" won the Emmy for "Best Reality Program (non-competition).
Her speech was memorable, in which she refused to thank Jesus.
"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this. He had nothing to do with this," Griffin said. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now."
The comic has won that Emmy shes long coveted.
A guy wearing a red wig! No, I mean it! It’s a guy, right!!?
“Breaking of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 10th Commandments in the span of just a few minutes.”
‘Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife’ Huh!?
It seems to me that we are all children of God. If a child makes a mistake, his parent might punish him, and severely. But the punishment is to help the child by correcting him. It is not vengance because the child dared mock the parent. And certainly no decent parent would torture or kill the child.
I can understand well that God punishes man for his sins. I cannot understand why God would mete out unlimited torture to most of his children their mistakes. It seems to me that this is construing God to be less just and more cruel than most any human. How could that be?
Should Kathy Griffin's punishment for foolish, stupid and blasphemous remarks be the same punishment that a mass murderer might get? I can't see the justice in that.
The idea is expressed time and time again in the Bible - If you wish to live without God, He will grant it -- for eternity.
A simple editing of the comment, replacing Jesus Christ with Mohammed, would probably generate some excitement for her.
She’s the crypt keeper.
She is seeking attention and if no one complains she will fade away.
It is clear that the little demon within Ms. Griffin was in a playful mood this weekend.
She needs a Baptist Exorcism, that’s where the Preacher orders the demon to come “OUT” in the Name of Jesus, and for good measure, the Church Ladies beat the Devil out of her.
Still and all, I suspect the Almighty knows the difference between the profligate and the pathetic.
I know we are supposed to pray for them, but they really do make it hard sometimes.
I never said that I believe nothing matters to God or that He has no standards. I don't believe that.
No doubt she thinks she is being “daring” and “cutting edge” and “satirising religion”.
I’ll believe that and give her a pass when she stands up and says “A lot of people come up here and thank Allah/Buddha for this. He had nothing to do with this,” Griffin said. “Suck it, Mohammed/vishnu. This award is my God now.”
God hasn't done anything. We did. It's called the Fall of Man. We set ourselves apart from God. And it's our eternal punishment dealt by him in the Garden. He later gave us His law by which we could regain His forgiveness by living by the letter of that Law. But that's impossible because we are still sinners all.
And that's why He gave us His son. His son's death removes our guilt. But for that to happen, we mush accept His son as our Savior. If we don't we reject God's gift and continue our sinful lives.
For God to simply give us a pass on our sins (and don't misunderstand; she sinned!) devalues His son's sacrifice on the cross to a meaningless, inconsequential death. Do you really believe God would do that?
Make no mistake: We all sin and fall short of the glory of God. That is our lot in life. God holds out His promise to us, but we have to be open to the Holy Spirit entering our lives and making the change within us that will bring us into communion with Him. We can't do that on our own. And without that, we will be judged harshly.
Heb 10:30 "For we know him who said, 'Vengeance is mine; I will repay.' And again, 'The Lord will judge his people.'".
I’ve never even heard of this show. It cant have made the atlantic crossing as yet. Tell me, is it likely to?
God gave us free will. During our lives and at our deaths we are allowed to either love or hate Him. If someone dies hating God, his soul flees from Him, says “no” to God’s mercy, and goes into the outer darkness.
Hell is, by definition, the absence of God, the hating of God. Should God override Ms. Griffin’s free will? Drag her screaming and kicking into a heaven she wants no part of?
I pray that God gives everyone sufficient grace to love Him, even to the very moment of death. But the person to whom grace is given still has to give his fiat, and accept that mercy. We can always say no. This free will is what makes great sinners.
Yet free will makes even greater saints.
I can only go by the words of the Bible what is in store for her.
That picture makes her look like a guy in drag. Perhaps a reject from the gay pride parade in San Francisco?
..need I say more...she was probably auditioning :^
God is not mocked....
..but she thinks she got away with it.
Even if she said that, He still loves her deeply.
doubt this was an intentional slam on religion, but just a really bad joke
