Tiki Barber says he would still be playing football if the Giants had a new head coach.

The recently retired star running back has used his new memoir to rip Big Blue boss Tom Coughlin, blaming his former head coach for driving him from the game he loved.

"If Tom Coughlin had not remained as head coach of the Giants, I might still be in a Giants uniform," Barber wrote in his upcoming book "Tiki: My Life in the Game and Beyond," excerpts of which were obtained by the Daily News.

What?

TO hasn't got a dime's worth of Tiki's class.

Coughlin, by all indications, is a Major prick!

Tiki doesn’t exactly smell like roses, either. He’s not TO, but he’s not Jason Taylor, either.

Ironically, Tom Coughlin is the guy who taught Tiki how to not suck.

Prick or no prick, the Giants hired Coughlin, not Barber, to coach the team.

I was okay with Tiki until I learned he dogged Eli Manning on some show, saying that he ‘wasn’t a team leader’, etc.

I’m sorry, but you don’t do that to a teammate.

“Ironically, Tom Coughlin is the guy who taught Tiki how to not suck.”

That’s right. Coughlin taught him how to hold on to the ball. Drastically cut down the fumbles.

I'd be interested to know your definition of "class".

We all know that if Owens had said the exact same thing that he would be crucified for it and called "classless".

With Coughlin, it is doubtful that Barber would have even remained in the league as long as he did as he was a fumbling machine.

Also, Barber had problems with his own team. He criticized the coaching repeatedly and he even butted into Michael Strahan's business when he negotiating his contract and called him "greedy". Interestingly enough, Barber didn't volunteer to give back any of his money.

Oops, that should have read "WITHOUT Coughlin".

With(out) Coughlin, it is doubtful that Barber would have even remained in the league as long as he did as he was a fumbling machine.

That maybe so, but he was good solid RB and any team would have taken him.

It was reported today that Tiki said or wrote, "He would have remained playing, but coughlin took all the fun out of football."

I don’t know about good solid RB any team would have taken, there were a few years there when his fan popularity is what really kept him on the field. And if going from fumbling 9 times a year to 1 time a year takes all the fun away for Tiki then I think there’s maybe something wrong with him.

Tiki wasn’t his teammate when he said those things. He was performing his duty as a commentator. This took place during this pre-season long after Tiki had retired from NYG. Tiki isn’t pulling a I’m retiring to avoid training camp/pre-season as one of Eli’s teammates did either. He practically had a booth job before he retired after last season with all the TV work he was doing.

And it sure wasn’t Tiki I watched confirm Eli’s lack of leadership with his ridiculous press conference. Made me laugh so hard I went around fibbing to my fellow fantasy footballers that Eli and Peyton have different moms. The goofy look is from Archie and Peyton got the smart mom.

Furthermore, I dropped Eli from a $5 QB to a $0-2 in my upcoming auction league and a couple places down in my draft league. Got the guy replacing Tiki in my draft league and am happy to get him since it’s a 16 team league and he is my #2 with Addai as #1. As a side note, I have Peyton Manning rated #1 in my Auction league which favors QB scoring (unlike traditional RB favoring) worth $50 out of your total 100 auction dollars where minimum bid is $0, increments of $1. He has been rated number one for the past 5 or 6 seasons now and always delivers the stats.

See my post 18. Keep in mind that Tiki is now getting paid to say this stuff. Eli should know better than to respond directly to it. His response imo confirmed what Tiki had alleged.
