Report: Men are bad for the environment
UPI ^ | 8/30/07 | Staff

The actions of men are more detrimental to the environment than those of the fairer sex, a study by the Swedish Foreign Ministry purports to have determined.

The ministry's study found that compared with women, men typically produce more greenhouse gas emissions by eating more meat and by spending more money on gasoline, The Local said Wednesday.

"Three out of four cars in Sweden are today driven by men. Around 10 percent of all drivers, mainly men, account for 60 percent of car journeys," report author Gerd Johnsson-Latham said.

The study, conducted for the United Nations' Sustainable Development Commission, suggests gender should not be an over-looked variable when it comes to the environment.

The study said Sweden should consider the impact of both genders when passing legislation with an environmental impact such as public transport.

I have to admit, it's probably all too true.

I know every time I go into a steakhouse, I try to order just the big salad, because of the environment and all, but then I look at some of the other guys eating a prime rib, and I want one too. I am so weak.

I admit also that I probably drive more than women do, but I don't think I should take all the blame, because even though I go more in distance I don't spend as much time as they do because I go faster.

You...you...man you!!! Next thing you'll be telling me is you're not using nail clippers to mow your lawn, but {{gasp}} a gasoline powered lawn mower.

After reading all about Senator Craig, I have heard enough toilet talk to do me for quite a while. Thank you. Please move into the kitchen or the dining room to carry on this discussion.

:~)

No, actually I quit mowing the lawn. It's just such a pain, it's like not worth it. I figure if somebody wants my lawn mowed, let my wife do it.

When my wife and I are in the same car, I am expected to drive while she relaxes and tells me how I should handle the car.

Men spend more money on gasoline?

What a stupid statistic. First of all, try getting a date without a car, unless you live someplace like NYC.

And second, most men do the driving when they are in a car with a woman.

Oh, come on Millee! Everyone knows why we men are bad for the environment. (we fart)

They need to investigate the effects of estrogen in effluent water on the aquatic fauna of the Chesapeake Bay and (especially) the Potomac Estuary. Then get back to us on that.

Take courage FRiend. You are doing the right thing. You leave the green leafy things so food will have something to eat, as it should be.
