I've been a little unplugged from TV and TV sports for the last few years but am about to have cable reconnected.

I am right now watching an ESPN/ABC college football game (TN v. CA) on my local ABC station. The game is "branded" as "ESPN," which I understand has displace the ABC brand in sports.

So does this mean that I will be able to see ESPN's Monday Night Football over my local ABC station? (If that is true, I am going to get the very cheap cable package, which does not include the ESPN channel.)

No. The MNF games will still be on ESPN. By virtue of the fact that both ESPN and ABC are owned by the same company, there's an ESPN branding to all of the college games that ABC airs.

No. I gather ESPN is just trying to promote ESPN on ABC.
