Ladies and Gentleman, Peeps of All Three Sexes, the College football season is here!!!
Tonight's slate works out a little somethin' like this (Due to East Coast bias, all times are Eastern):
7:00 PM Buffalo at #16 Rutgers
7:00 PM Miami (OH) at Ball State
7:00 PM Southeast Missouri State at Cincinnati
7:30 PM Murray State at #10 Louisville
8:00 PM #2 LSU at Mississippi State
8:00 PM Kent State at Iowa State
8:00 PM Southeastern Louisiana at New Mexico State
8:05 PM UNLV at Utah State
9:00 PM Weber State at #24 Boise State
And in a few short hours, I'll be heading on a jet plane to the West for:
10:00 PM Utah at Oregon State
Break out a case of Pabst, throw some steaks on the grill, and find a foam finger, the season is here!
Final Score: Connecticut 45, Duke 14. Go UConn Huskies!!!!
...In losing. LOL :-)
....Yep, and this will make the home opening all the more sweeter at the Rent.
Western NC...and I am STOKED about that game!
They called the game??? Fer cryin out loud, I picked UF to score the most points this week! What the Heck!
I ALWAYS get hosed by the gators. No wonder I hate ‘em!
And then we'll get to miss the Gophers, Badgers, Fighting Sioux, Pioneers, et al., too?
BTW, it’s Ga Tech 26, ND 3 with 11:00 in the 4th...
And GT causes a fumble and recovers it on the 17! Go Jackets!
So does this loss count for BCS purposes? I thought I-AA games didn’t count. /sarc
Good one!
I think Michigan is out of the BCS championship as of now.
Touchdown GT!
33-3. Did anyone see this coming, with the game AT ND?
I thought GT would win. I geuss in future weeks we’ll find out if GT is this good or if ND is this bad. You had to figure ND was in trouble when Weis was trying to be cute about who he was starting at QB.
. . .Never mind that this was a good matchup for the Mountaineers, who have speed on offense and a talented, shifty, quarterback, Armanti Edwards, to pick apart Michigan's inexperienced defense. (And Appalachian State knew it! As the Winston-Salem Journal reported last week, the Mountaineers practically begged U-M athletic director Bill Martin for the matchup.)
Never mind that Michigan was foolish to schedule Appalachian State. When you want a cupcake, eat a cupcake. Don't chew on glass and tell yourself it's a cupcake.
Never mind all that because hold on. I've got someone from East Lansing on the other line.
It's for you, Lloyd.
You lost to Appalachian State!
WVU - 62
WMU - 24
FINAL
That was a really good article. Lots of quotables in there!
Sharapova became the first No. 2-seeded woman to lose before the round of 16 at the Open since Andrea Jaeger in 1981. Her father could barely stand to watch, moving from his front-row perch to a seat farther back during the final points. "I could sit here and blame the wind and blame my opponent. But there are no excuses," Sharapova said. "I'm not going to throw myself a pity party here."
Amazing if they called it for anything but bad weather. Heck the NFL played a conference game in a fog so dense you could not see 10 ft ahead of you.
I am right now watching an ESPN/ABC college football game (TN v. CA) on my local ABC station. The game is "branded" as "ESPN," which I understand has displace the ABC brand in sports.
So does this mean that I will be able to see ESPN's Monday Night Football over my local ABC station? (If that is true, I am going to get the very cheap cable package, which does not include the ESPN channel.)
