I have this machine called a Metals Analyzer made by Applied Precision Technologies. It looks to be made in the 60's.

It was given to my father by a man who said it was based on Tesla coil technology. Anyone know anything about it?

Do you happen to have a Tesla Oscillator "earthquake machine" as well? Very rare -- but Karl Rove has one.

nope....not a clue....but I just BET it had something to do with GLOBAL WARMING and why it was so freaking hot today. you must, of course, destroy it. (if your father had destroyed it, it wouldn’t have been so freaking hot....hmmmm...i think i’ll contact a lawyer tomorrow)

It's used in tinfoil hat production.

I don’t have my digital camera with me, and my internet on my cell phone isn’t cooperating. Get you pics as soon as I can.

I bet it’s a plasma emission spectrometer. The sparks (courtesy of the Tesla coil) vaporize a small amount of metal from the surface and make it glow, and then a UV/Vis spectrometer looks for spectral emission lines corresponding to the various likely suspects, Cr, Mo, Co, Mn, V, W, etc.

Just a guess. (But, maybe the first useful post on the thread. Sorry about that.)
