This is how Olsen describes her character :

"Tara is from the town of Majestic and she is a good Christian girl with a twist," said Olsen. "She's a Christian. She teaches Silas and wants to tell them all about the Bible. Maybe she's stoned while doing so but she wants to tell them about it. I mean, she walks in, basically she is who she is but the audience ends up seeing really who she is as the episodes go on."

One dialogue has this : "I Love Jesus and I get stoned in order to talk to Him. We have such great conversations together."

I was a born-again Christian who used to also smoke pot; thought it was OK until the Lord showed me otherwise.

Now I'm a born-again Christian free from addiction. I think that's a better lifestyle portrayal than what this TV show would offer up, but what do I know.....

Idiot. Everyone knows that's what magic mushrooms are for.

Yup, keep portraying Christians as crazy and hypocritical. Hollywood has an agenda.

If she’s going to be realistic as a pot smoker, she’ll need to eat something.

Haw haw, that's quite a twist (as they like to say in Hollywood). Those zany tee-vee writers. Haw haw...sure does fit the 'ends justify the means and it's all about me' pragmatism of today's young people. I bet we can expect a lot of great gospel messages from that twisted character.

The Bible does not prohibit marijuana use; in fact, Genesis 1:29 explicitly states that it is permitted: "And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat."

See also Matt. 15:11, Romans 14:2-17, and I Timothy 4:1-6.

On the other hand, Scripture contains dozens of injunctions against strong drink and drunkenness-- as it should, because modern medical science confirms that alcohol is vastly more dangerous and destructive than marijuana.

Yet there are plenty of so-called "Christians" here on FR and throughout society who are quite happy to condemn pot smokers between gulps of their martinis.

Some things never change.

Clinton lies.

Government grows.

Hollywood can depict realistic homosexuals, rapists, child molestors, heroes, villains — can’t do a practicing, Bible-believing Christian (which should be the same thing said three different ways) to save its life.

Or won’t.

Ah, another show to not watch... I don’t suppose it would cross the media’s mind to write a realistic show about people with addictions who get help in a church and joining a 12 step program fighting it and becoming clean and sober?

But who is advertising, who provides the money for this stuff?

Amazing - and no grace found here, I’m afraid.

I had a friend in high school like this. Insisted weed, coke, and LSD helped him get closer to God.

He’s dead now. Of a drug-induced suicide. Turns out, he was probably just trying to justify his drug problem. Who’da thunkit?

Weeds, is just more nonsense... We want to have a night time soap opera... but we have to make it “hip” “edgy”...

Oh I know, lets have a suburban woman that’s a pot dealer... or we’ll make it about polygamy..

Crap.
