If you Google “camel spider” you will find there is much urban mythology surrounding it.

LOL ... things are not always what they seem...
Have you seen this famous NG photo? The dark camel-shaped things in this picture are not camels. Look more closely. The light-colored objects just below the dark shapes are the camels. This overhead shot was taken at dawn or dusk, when the shadows were fairly large in comparison to the camels. This is the sort of thing that humans would rarely have the occasion to see.

I really like spiders but that thing freakin’ creeps me out.
I’ve heard they run very fast too and like to crawl in to people tents at night for the light and heat. Yeah, I’d sleep real well after seeing one of those crawling on my sleeping bag.
