SCO Group Inc. does not own the copyright to Unix operating-system software, as it had claimed, and Novell Inc. is the proper owner, U.S. District Judge Dale Kimball said in a filing in federal court in Utah. SCO Group had sued Novell in 2004 for falsely claiming ownership of Unix.
In 2003, SCO Group filed a high-profile lawsuit against International Business Machines Corp. for contributing code to Linux open-source software that it said included some of SCO's Unix-related intellectual property. SCO claimed to have purchased rights to Unix from Novell in 1995.
That 2003 suit against IBM which has not been resolved, raised questions about the potential for other Linux proponents, such as distributor Red Hat Inc. to face similar legal claims

I am correct, Linksys was never a company based on Linux and most of their products don’t use Linux now. You can whine about the exact numbers all you want, but Cisco and Linksys aren’t Linux companies no matter how desperate you are to name any. Google is the main one of course, and as one would suspect stocked to the hilt with leftists too.
Free software is the epitome of the free market and extremely distant from communism. There is no government involvement, no centralized control, and nothing preventing or interfering with a person engaging or disengaging in the market. If there are people who think the personal value of writing free software is greater than their personal opportunity cost, then who are you to say what they can or cannot do. Interfering with that important calculation is the beginning of communism, not the lack of profits. Your suggestion is closer to communism than that of the supposed 'leftists' you think are trying to subvert the computer industry. But as I pointed out before, you latch on to the Stallman types but ignore the Raymond and the Wall types.
So what. He is an individual. He is using his mouthpiece in the same way that some Hollywood actors do. A couple of communists will listen and everybody else will ignore him. The market will churn on. Free software will continue to exist with proprietary software in the *free market*.
You stated that Linksys had one Linux product, the WRT54G. That is provably false. You did not retract when corrected. It stands as a lie. Your other lie, which I notice you don't address, is saying that I said a Russian hacker worked for the DoD.
Cisco and Linksys arent Linux companies no matter how desperate you are to name any.
Nobody claimed they were. The claim is that they've made a lot of money off of Linux, especially pre-Cisco Linksys, which was an obscure manufacturer of cheap home networking parts until they released their Linux-based router.
Google is the main one of course, and as one would suspect stocked to the hilt with leftists too.
The issue isn't their politics. The issue is that Linux contributed to the economy by helping them build a multi-billion dollar company. You can whine about "Linux is hurting UNIX" all you want (although Apple, another bunch of leftists, seems to be doing quite well with UNIX) but the fact is that Linux has helped make a lot of people a lot of money.
You claim it never is with you. Want us to believe it's just coincidence you constantly attack the software billionaires while endlessly defending their green party moonbat counterpart LOL.
Due to the large amount of small (and often extremely obscure and used by almost no one) tools owned by the FSF and available in most shovelware Linux distros, Stallman/FSF owns more copyrights by title in such distros than any other single entity. Thus, under this warped accounting method, Sun gives OpenOffice with about 10 million lines of code and it counts as one, the same as a small GNU program that has maybe a few hundred lines of code.
He's gotten better with his claims. A while back he claimed that the FSF holds the copyright to more open source than anyone and they own the copyright on most Linux distro code . I withstood a barrage of insults and libel, and numerous repetitions of these falsehoods, after I showed him he was wrong. It took him quite a while to admit that these statements are false, although he warped them into the technically true but irrelevant claim above so he could claim some sort of empty victory.
You are still trying to avoid the issue of your two recent proven lies, given that you constantly call me a liar for one time I took advantage of your ignorance.
Yep we know, you’ll stop at nothing to defend green party leftists, foreign criminal hackers, and attack Christians and Republicans. It’s what you come here to do.
Exactly as I expected of you — spew lies and don’t hold yourself accountable for them.
Remember that next time you feel like writing “Liar!” because you’re losing an argument.
Those are the dominant facts jack, you endlessly defend leftists and foreign criminals, and constantly attack Christians and Republicans, especially any member of the Bush family. Your posting history is perfect proof of course, your denials worthless.
For Linksys it was just incorrect information. We all do that at times. We're civil, we understand people make mistakes, don't remember perfectly and find false information from sources. You could have said "oops" and all would have been forgotten.
But you couldn't do that. The incorrect information was the cornerstone of your argument, so you couldn't retract it. That is because your argument being wrong would mean that Linux is good for business, and that would destroy your worldview. Can't let a few facts get in the way of your false preconceived notions. So it remains on the record as a lie, not an innocent mistake, because you used it to further your argument and never retracted.
For the "Russian," you simply yet again tried to smear me with your libelous lies, repeated several times despite my correction. The worst part is that you dishonestly, quietly changed your text later, hoping nobody would notice. Do you really think we're that stupid?
After this your usual habit is to slink away back under your rock for a while, then to pop up again totally forgetting your many proven lies. And when cornered in yet another lie you'll remind me of the time I fooled you, oh great security expert. Repeat, ad nauseum, ad infinitum.
No the original lie on this thread was that Linksys was a company that owed its existence to Linux, which is clearly far from the truth. Very few models use Linux and the main one that did had it ripped off LOL. Go attack the poster that claimed those lies is what you should be doing of course, but as your history indicates you mostly attack anyone that questions the green party leftists behind Linux instead. That and attack Republicans, Christians, and generally any American product. You try to pass yourself off as a supporter of Apple, by erroneously trying to claim they’re a free software company when they’re not, but have even let it slip you’d prefer their products be made by Sony. Even tried to claim Japanese cars are more American than American cars one time, LOL probably are in you foreign based fantasies.
Mistake not a lie I corrected myself in post 35 (which I already told you about "For the record if Im wrong regarding Lynksys so be it, that does not invalidate the point that Linux has helped many an American business start." Still rather than actually talk about the point I was trying to make you hang on to my *admitted* mistake and began beating the lie drums yet, when you made what I believe to be a mistake about the number of Linksys products with Linux and are called on it you cant man up and admit it was a mistake. Thats where you lose credibility.
Go attack the poster that claimed those lies is what you should be doing of course
What if the poster already said 'maybe Im wrong'
any American product.
Ive never seen him attack Apple, RedHat, or Solaris. Looks like to you Microsoft Windows is 'any American product'
You try to pass yourself off as a supporter of Apple, by erroneously trying to claim theyre a free software company when theyre not
In total Apple is not a free software company but the underpinnings of one of their main products (OSX) is..
LOL don't claim you never saw the threads of him defending the criminal Russian hackers that cracked OSX to run on cheap PC's, even when I showed him Apple's letter threatening criminal prosecution he called it quote "BS", and went on to claim Russian hackers wrote software used by our military which he later admitted was an outright lie. He's even said he wished Apple products were made by Sony instead. You probably claim you've never seen him attack Christians and Republicans either, or just give him a free pass since Linux trumps all else for you two. Anyone else can take a couple of minutes to scan his history, just the other day on a muzzie thread he diverted the discussion by trying to tear Christians down as doing something equally as bad right out of the blue, funny that another poster commented it was typical of leftists to do such tricks at DU.
Im sorry is that 'attacking apple' or saying that the hackers did not commit a crime... have you pointed out which criminal act was committed yet?
Apple's letter threatening criminal prosecution he called it quote "BS"
He posted a long explanation of why is was 'bs'; their offense, if any, was civil and not criminal and as such a letter threatening criminal prosecution is nothing but an intimidation tactic.
You probably claim you've never seen him attack Christians and Republicans either
I have not, but I, unlike some, dont stalk people around free republic. I know he is an Atheist and he knows I think unless he repents he will suffer for it.
Anyone else can take a couple of minutes to scan his history
Two minutes of my time is too valuable to waste doing your paperwork for you.
just the other day on a muzzie thread he diverted the discussion by trying to tear Christians down as doing something equally as bad right out of the blue,
Link?
He corrected himself. I showed how Linux helped bring Linksys from being a nothing company to being worth half a billion at sale, and you lied to try to counter that truth.
Very few models use Linux
Here you go again, silently changing your lie towards a truth without actually retracting the lie. You said one model. Anyway, you're still wrong. Almost a hundred Linksys models using Linux can in no way be considered as "very few."
Let me guess, you just took the number 17 I quoted without even bothering to look up the fact that it encompassed almost a hundred separate product models -- even though I gave you a warning.
You try to pass yourself off as a supporter of Apple, by erroneously trying to claim theyre a free software company when theyre not,
I'm a supporter of Apple only because they make quality stuff. Bringing in their extensive use of and contributions to open source software, even GPL software, even FSF-owned GPL software, only serves to counter your paranoia of open source software.
As for the rest, you're just going into rants and insults again to distract from your proven lies.
Isn't it nice to be able to peacefully disagree?
Link?
He must be talking about when I compared Fred Phelps and his inbred clan to Muslims wanting to put homosexuals to death. GE defended Phelps before, bashing me for criticizing him, so I can understand why he's upset.
BTW, it’s interesting how he attacks me for criticizing Christians where due, but completely forgets many comments I’ve made against Muslims — and even against radical atheists (I can’t stand Dawkins) for their anti-Christian rhetoric.
AR,
The only thing I would say to you on that is Phelps is not a Christian he may have been at some point way back when he was a civil rights lawyer but he jumped the tank some time ago.
Defending foreign criminals who hacked their OS to run on non-Apple computers is obviously an attack on Apple, especially when you call their attempts to defend themselves “BS”. Heck he even tried trotting out the “180 day rule for criminal prosecution” to defend those foreign hackers, and lied that Russian hackers wrote software used by our military, which he finally admitted was a lie months later.
Your denials are no better anyway, you started the BS on this thread of course and are known to create whole threads with bogus information such as claiming all support for Windows 2000 has ended even though it goes till 2010, your laughable excuse is you alone have a different definition of the word “support” LOL. Still not as bad as this guy, who created a vanity thread title of “Democrats ahead of Republicans on Open Source” once when it showed Democrats and the DNC running Linux and Republicans and Bush on true American products. That was a few years ago but the MO is still the same.
