this is from the local Monroe TV station. It's not the most informative, but a better article from the local newspaper can't be posted due to copyright complaints. Latest update is that two suspects are in custody, but the situation is "ongoing." Flashbangs were heard going off at 4 PM.

May the officers truly rest in peace in the arms of the Lord;

I also pray for the EMT’s, and for the families of all involved.

A caller who identified herself as Sharon Anders, manager of Altel’s Bastrop store, said the FBI has ordered all Bastrop phone service disconnected until the situation is normalized.
~~~~~~~~~~~
This sounds very strange,,,
Local news just sniped your post on the info for the most part,,,to add : LASP SWAT TEAM is on standby,,,the whole
downtown area is being evacuated/shut-down,,,
And they shut off the phones ??
Police have identified a person of interest. She is 26-year-old Tonya Smith of Texas. Police say a vehicle was found at the hotel. They traced this vehicle back to Harris County, Texas, and they discovered a murder warrant was attached to the vehicle. Police say Smith is a suspect in that murder warrant.
Smith is described as either a white or hispanic female, 26 years old, 5’9” and about 150 lbs. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She is believed to have two tattoos: one on her left wrist and another on her back right shoulder. The second tattoo is reported to be of a viking. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans and driving a dark green Dodge. If you have any information on this suspect, call Bastrop police or State Police immediately.
At least six law enforcement agencies are on the scene.
I know the officers that were killed, one of them I knew very well. The shootings occured directly across from the police department. My daughter works for the police department and this was a very frightening situation for all involved. My daughter was outside the police station and heard shots that made her hit the ground. She ran back into the police station and was called and told to lock down her office and stay away from the windows. She was alone and listening to gunfire for quite a long time and didn’t know what was going on.
Please pray for the families of the police officers that were slain. They were good officers and good men and it’s a great loss for all of us.
