In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
levity \LEV-uh-tee\, noun
1. Lightness of manner or speech, especially when inappropriate or excessive; frivolity.
2. Lack of steadiness or constancy; changeableness.
Example sentences:
They sat there in their formal bargeman's rig . . . looking solemn: they were part of a ceremony, and levity, winking, whispering, smiling, had no place in it.
-- Patrick O'Brian, The Hundred Days
I must say that if the doctor was indulging in levity at my expense, it is a levity I find in the worst possible taste.
-- Alfred Alcorn, Murder in the Museum of Man
Etymology:
Levity is from Latin levitas, from levis, "light."
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
OMG!!! how cool
I knew it was coming, I just didn’t know when
It was great, has Jax seen it yet?
And Gabz, according to some on FR, you may now be considered a "published author" lol
LOL! now you’ve finally MADE IT!! ; )
No, I want to try and see if I can find a hard copy of the paper. That’s a bit difficult, as they have stopped home deliveries of it in this area.
Hey, and it’s a Maryland, not Delaware paper (smirk)
BTW, this is the same newspaper I blasted last week about a story they ran about blueberries....in INDIANA. That article ran the day before we all went and picked blueberries right here on DelMarVa.
I can’t believe, with the number of papers and reporters they have around here they didn’t bother to find a local angle to a USA Today article..........but they are all Gannett papers, what should I expect?
-our loco rag is a gannet as well....not much substance there.
And for my next trick, I will now levitate this African elephant.
Same here....I stopped subscribing years ago!
I hope with the ability to levitate folks onto cranes and other things, we'll raise the six men up from coal hole in Ohio.
I don’t subscribe, I just read them on line :)
I will look for a copy of today’s paper, though — since Jax name is in it.
Tioga — I did let her read the online version - she started bouncing off the walls!
:))
Dagnabbit, they pulled the “beaver attacks” thread...
Before any of the cocquettes had a chance to strut their beavers on the thread?
LOL!!!
But I really do need to find a copy of today’s issue.
You know, in the good old days they’d have left that thread alone.
