Algebra is really fundamental! The sad thing is, you do algebra all the time, you just don’t realize it. Like if you’re trying to figure out if an 18 oz can or 24 oz can is the better deal; that’s algebra.
I’m glad Steve is helping but if his book is any good, you should sneak it and brush up your algebra just so you can impress him!
Just don’t divide by zero, that could be series.
heh, fancy ciphering. I recall getting it in the 8th grade, sheeesh, hard year.
When I was in high school...I took pre-alg 1 in 9th grade, failed it. Took pre-alg 1 in 10th grade, made a D. Took pre-alg 2 in 11th grade, failed it. Took “Math in the Real World” type class in 12th grade (with a bunch of guys from auto shop) and I think I actually made a C!
So I got to graduate.
I was great at science and lit, journalism, drama...but could not do Math.
But you knw what is weird? Medical math is mostly metric...and I can do it.
I bet you just had teachers who couldn’t adapt to your learning plan.
For instance, we had a set of algebra manipulatives that were basically colored pieces and dice. You could learn to do sets of equations with them without even realizing what you were doing.
If you can do medical math, you can do algebra. I bet if you had a good teacher you’d have done great.
And I had dreadful allergies. Back in those days...they treated allergies with Benadryl. My mom would give me a couple of Benadryl and send me off to school and I would go through the day in a stupor.
To this day, if I take one Benadryl, I sleep like the dead all night.
I literally remember sitting in class thinking “What? Where am I?” Heh heh!

I second what Jen said. In fact, I bet, just by being an adult and having a little life experience that if you were to try it again you'd do great.
Did you just hear my van completely flipping out? I’m still shaking all over. It wouldn’t stop. I don’t know how exactly I made it quit.
There’s a “panic” mode on the key thingie, but so far as I know, that hasn’t worked in years. I’m hoping this was just a fluke, but the electrical bits have been a little wonky for awhile now...locks locking and unlocking on their own. If it does that again...ungh.
The last time I asked about fixing the rest of the electrical problems, they said it was too complicated to worry about. But freaking out like that isn’t something that can be tolerated.

LOL - yeah - we heard it! I didn’t think you had an alarm so I didn’t think it was you... thought it was someone else.
It’s not a true alarm...just a panic mode that used to work when the button on the remote thing was pressed...but the remote doesn’t really work.
It was honking and honking and the lights were flashing and the folks from the coffee house were watching and I couldn’t get the durned thing to stop!
If it ever does that in the middle of the night, I may take a hammer to it.
Heh... sorry for chuckling, but it is kindof humorous when from a spectator’s point of view ;~)
What’s kind of ironic is that I was just about to post some sort of sentimental carp in its honor...the odometer is at 123045, which is kind of a nice number (though not as nice as 411 miles from now), and I was thinking about the fact that it rolled over to 100,000 the morning I left Vermont.
Maybe it was celebrating... the only way it knows how :~)
Heh...hopefully it isn’t sulking in the morning because I yelled at it and poked it until it shut up. ;-)
Dang...that’s not exactly something you tend to watch out for when driving defensively.
They’re gonna have fun explaining that to their insurance company, huh?
