The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I’m still not sure it would hurt more to find out she wasn’t as innocent as she appeared than it would for him to feel like he had a hand in her destruction.

It’s all good...just some possibilities are easier to write. ;-)

I'm using Scrivener and virtual notecards. My Scriv file is split into two sections: The Story and The Research. The story is divided into three acts. I've got cards for each major plot event with notes on what's supposed to happen, and the emotional state/reaction of the characters at that point, all organized by subplot. The research file is stuffed full. There are character files organized by subplot, backstories, scene sketches, language resources, rugby, MI-5, UK-isms, scenery, satellite stuff, guerilla/terrorist stuff, Islamic stuff, etc.

So I'm ready. Bring on Nov!

I don’t like that trend either. I like space opera and things with adventures, not transhuman silliness. Bleah.

Heee.

“Space opera” is slang for the science fiction sub-genre that is more concerned with adventure and plot than accurate science or deep social meaning. “People living and working in space” is a good definition. “Firefly”, the works of Robert Heinlein, the original Star Trek are good examples of space opera.

Whew. Got the bathrooms mostly scrubbed. Still need to mop the floors and a second pass, with chlorox, on the shower, but what an improvement.

I cleaned up earlier too, went over it twice. I used to get sick a lot, so I’m kind of OCD about germs.

You get a 30-day trial. Download it and mess with it and see what you think. It’s got some limitations but I do like it.

Heh...30 days starting now could be a bit of motivation to finish NaNo early, huh? Eek!

My villain is more icky than evil, I think. He feels like he didn’t get the life he deserved and therefore doesn’t feel like it’s much of a crime to take advantage of people who (he thinks) look down on him. He sees it as a sort of justice. He’s a pretty bitter person.

Ok - my villians believe they are being completely reasonable. They are working within a belief system that is shared by billions. They believe that any government that attempts to place secular law above their holy law is a government of oppression... and they are obligated to to fight against it. Islamofascists... it’s almost too easy.

I went ahead and bought it. It’s only $35 bucks. Completely worth it to me.
