I’ve had an exhausting and frustrating day.

I’m gainfully employed...that’s done, anyway. I found out that a hospital here would let me work regular nursing duties if I go through their orientation. But then I found out that I can only work one on one hospice and no regular hospital staffing (like this would be) if I don’t have proof of my vaccinations.

So I called my old doctor from my childhood...he’s actually still in practice at the same clinic and asked if he had my records. They said no, they destroyed them when I turned 25. Almost 20 years ago.

So I had to get new vaccinations. I got my MMR today and will get a chickenpox vaccine tomorrow. I could get titers drawn, but that would take longer and I’m just gonna get the shots and be done with it.

Is it worth it? One on one hospice pays $18 an hour...hospital staffing pays $28 an hour. I think it’s worth it. But ugh, I’ve been dealing with this all day.

Gads. No fun. You’ll probably decide it’s worth it though. :-)

I’m starting to really hate XP Home edition. Can’t seem to get rid of it. Have booted on a XP Pro CD, killed partition, made new partition, and reformatted drive. XP Pro CD Still installs XP Home.

I think I’m going to shoot it.

Hmmm. If a model T works then a lot of older cars might. Stuff from the 60's and 70's. Even if certain parts don't work right more than a few might work if you push start them or even hotwire and then push them. Older airplanes will also work. Dad's 1946 Tailorcraft does not have any more electrics than a really old car. You have to spin the prop by hand to start it, there are no lights or batteries, and if you bring a handheld radio. If the magnetos survive then it would fly. Also, a good mechanic that knows a thing or two about older cars could get even a fairly modern car working given some time and spare parts and enough duct-tape. Newer ATVs would be down but a town that remote probably has some old jeeps or things around. At my grandparents 'ranch' in way northern middle of no place California they have a couple old 40's -50'ish jeeps. I am no sort of expert in EMPs but to take out most cars but not really old ones you probably will need to fuse most alternators. Look here about older 'magneto' based systems. Or just fudge it. I am really picky about such things.

Oh, there are lots of old cars and stuff. Could use one to pump water ...

Good idea, Talon! Thanks!

You know, you have some kind of prejudice against naked people, especially naked men who are obeying gravity's rules.

Naked people have their uses, y'know!

Although, I confess, I'm having trouble putting a naked person in my prologue. Cam is rescuing a kidnapping victim ... maybe the victim is naked?

Izzit November yet?

I had the sudden idea today to start putting scene sketches down on index cards. I’m having an exceptionally hard time figuring out just how to tell this story, as far as order goes. Chronologically I understand it, but as a story to be told, without revealing everything at once...it’s a nightmare. I’ve been writing up sequences of chapters / scenes and then scratching them out over and over.

With the index cards, I divide everything up into chunks in a tidy way and I can try rearranging events to see what makes logical sense from a storytelling point of view; plus I can write scenes in whatever order I please — just pick one and write — and then rearrange ‘em later, once I decide on a final sequence.

Well...see...there’s good naked and bad naked...

Naked men falling from the sky and ending up in my garden for all the world to see are just...bad naked, in my mind. ;-)

So you're saying if he ended up in your garden wearing ... oh, I dunno, a tarp ... you'd be happier then, even knowing he was naked under the tarp???

Can someone please tell me why the H*ll I did that?!

Cuz you is a glutton for punishment?

How's the homeschooling going? This is our last year; Joseph graduates (at least he's supposed to) in June.;o) We're hoping we'll be back down in MS before he starts college in September, because he wants to live at home and go to the Univ. of Sou. Miss on the Gulf Coast.

I'm just now starting to see scenes.

An interesting subplot has emerged ... the usefulness of old things and old people.

I need a better title .... Heart's Desire isn't cuttin' it ...

I have no title. Everything I came up with was either already used two or three times or else so unbelievably cheesy it was unsuitable even for NaNo.

There just aren’t a lot of titles involving second chances or good things coming out of bad that don’t tend to get wayyyyy cheesy.

Sorry this took me so long to reply - got caught up in an episode of Frasier...

Sorta kinda - I have a MC, a shadowy Romantic Interest, and a vague idea of what I want to happen, but there are a few settings and occupations that I know nothing about so Im a little bit nervous...

Hi SuziQ - Im a real masochist, thats fer sure...

The homeschooling is going GREAT...its had its ups and downs already, but we found a homeschool store in a nearby town that offers some of the classes I was wanting to do this year, and she gets to be with other girls her age...in fact we are taking them to the Tx RenFest tomorrow - they are having their School Day there.
