The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Yeah, guess it’s just what you’re used to. Half my sibs have multiple syllable names but they all shorted to one-syllable forms which is what we mostly use. But my parents did that on purpose, chose names that shortened in ways they liked. So that’s what I’m used to.

Your names keep killing the thread today...

Well...didn’t get much planning done this evening. I’m having a day where I feel like a total idiot and wonder why I’m bothering with this writing thing.

And I need two people to fall in love and they aren’t clicking, even just in my notes. I think he needs to do something heroic to impress her or something. But that still doesn’t explain why he’d be interested in her. She’s kind of a wet blanket. Personally, if I was him, I’d want to slap her...not take her out to dinner.

Huh, sounds like she needs a personality redesign.

Maybe she does (or has done) something really heroic and it makes him look at her differently...like it’s a secret part of her personality that he stumbles on to and he realizes that this wet blanket is really something amazing.

Like she helped someone escape the World Trade Center or something. And he stumbles on it in an old newspaper article.

And the reason she’s such a wet blanket is because she’s traumatised from it. And the really sad thing is...she wasn’t always the wet blanket she is now, and will probably never be the same. But he sticks with her.

Or something.

Yeah, the fish lives at work.

Considering what an easy keeper he seems to be, it makes me wonder if I could get away with one here. But I think the cats would add another dimension. :-\

Halvah:
“Ooh, a fish in a jar? With water for me to play in, even?
Just for me???”

Heh...In this story, he’s the heroic one already...though she only knows the tip of it for starters.

I’m thinking maybe just have her doing some sort of volunteer work that’s so obviously out of her comfort zone that he’s touched by it.

And it’d force her out of wet blanketdom despite herself. Maybe.

Or maybe she is just a different person ‘at home’. I mean that he might see a different side of her than everyone else. Or there could be a little ‘accident’ or maybe he just thinks there is one.

I’m really puzzled why some people seem to think typing LiKe ThIs Is A rEaLlY GoOd WaY tO gEt PeOpLe To ClIcK oN a CrAiGsLiSt Ad.

It just makes me feel like my eyeballs are riding a particularly unpleasant roller coaster and starting to feel a little queasy.

Or maybe she was a victim of something in the past and he is sympathetic due to that (and she is changed from it?)
