The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Heh...a full fish tank is on a whole ‘nother level than one little betta who lives in a jar at work. But thanks anyhow. ;-)

I can't wait for this thread: Dumbledore is gay.

All I’ll say is that this revelation was, at best, unnecessary.

On the other hand, look at it this way: It's a series of books which largely take place at a British boarding school. It would have been more surprising if one of the teachers *wasn't* gay.

On second reading, what I said is not what I meant to say. What I meant to say was: "It would have been more surprising if *none* of the teachers were gay."

Morning ALL - sunny, uber-nice weather today, could be low 80s mmmm. Annie and Gypsy have been in the back yard. Annie put the stalk on a ‘something’ only she could see in the flower bed. She is sure there was something there. Could be interesting..then again, she does have a short attention span. Gypsy has announced the US Mail has arrived.

Exactly. It’s just annoying that it comes “out” now...so to speak, and it just gives the thread demontors more reason to be hysterical.

It was certainly a consideration for Lockhart, and Lupin had that whole bi-species thing going...

Morning!

I’m doing garden cleanup this morning and taking down The Cage. Hopefully I’ll get the last mowing of the season in and put down some fertilizer.

I took a few tomato cuttings. Wonder if I can get ‘maters in the winter....

Well, it’s worth a try, homegrown maters in the winter could be interesting. Got Grow-light?

Tomato plants down and cut up; joe-pye is next. Working on second bag full..

I'm just amazed that no one seems to have "caught on" to Aberforth's unnatural fascination with goats.

Yep! Got grow light!

The bay tree survived the summer. Yay!

I don’t know whether I can pot the rosemary up and bring it in this winter....it’s pretty big.

OB has gone to the gun range; I’m cutting the grass while my back is quiet, probably pay for it tonight, but I’m going crazy with this forced inactivity. LSA

I just wonder if it wasn’t a bit tongue-in-cheek.

Ungh...very wet day today here. It poured all night, was pouring this morning when I got up (why did I make an 8:30 appointment for a hair cut?), and is now down to a drizzle, but there’s a lot of standing water.

It’s also only 45 and doesn’t appear to have any plans to warm up this weekend.

But at least it isn’t windy.

I made it out to the grocery — got some wine and stuff to make a big pot of chili for this week’s lunches.

And I made a library run. I sometimes wonder what the library staff think of my selections. I tend to get strange assortments, like classic literature side by side with books on bio-warfare and forensics.
