The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

I’m installing a new wireless printer. Once again, I know just enough to be dangerous.

I have ~almost~ got it configured for Jr’s laptop.

It... it’s beautiful.

I mean... I can write my paper, plot my story, or store my recipes in the same freakin’ application.

Query: how do I associate a note with a shape so that when I move the shape, the note moves?

How to I get a line to stay connected between two shapes when I move one?

I'm guessing your running OneNote 2007? We're still stuck with the 2003 version...

I’m installing a new wireless printer.

Very cool! Still running a parallel connection here.

Hmm, tonight's theme seems to be how backward my computer setup is...

It ain’t cool until I make sure it works. I used the cable for the PC. So far the laptop is telling me it found the printer, but it’s still installing/initializing.

Did it come with a driver disk? Do you need to install the driver?

Yes, I got it set up for the PC last night. And just got it configured to the laptop. I know what I’m doing now so I can do the same with the Mrs’ laptop.

IT WORKS!!!

The others can wait. I’m going to bed.

Yeah, I downloaded the free trial and then sent for an academic copy ($24. Also ordered Visual Studio 05 and a copy of Vista Business for kicks since it was cheap through the academic site)

Now I have to avoid using up the trial before the cd gets here... hehehe....

Good morning Corin! I’ve been workin hard for less pay on a nastier job... digging out six years of buildup in the horse’s lean-to. That’s six years of mare pee and more bedding thrown in.

Cool.

I’m off to Kentucky this weekend myself. Leave tomorrow afternooon, back late Saturday.

And the wife and I are trying to find a time to spend a weekend in Beaufort, South Carolina. 1) because we want to get away and 2) for Nanowrimo research.

Mornin’, all!

I’m amazed at how quickly fall has come on since I’ve been gone. I rode to work today (my helmet and all having arrived in the suitcase), and the bike paths are all covered with leaves in a lot of places. And it smells like fall. Mmmm...fall...

The rain’s gonna start soon, but I’ll try not to think about that...

Yeah - I think I missed summer this year.

Ah well, as they say in baseball, there’s always next year.

I’m kind of glad we never had any serious heat, though.

I guess what with the really hot weather we had last year, we *had* to have a cold, wet summer in order to restore balance.

It was cool and wet back home, too, for the most part. We really only had a few sunny days. Though...it cracked me up a little, how I’ve gotten so I don’t take weather as seriously. My brother wanted to wait for perfect upper 60’s weather for biking...he kept saying it was too cold or misty or whatever before that. Can’t wait for that here or you never do anything!

It would have been nice to have less rain, though. On the other hand, it meant we had some nice lazy days where we didn’t feel like we *had* to do much of anything.
