The Hobbit Hole XXXIV - But better than rain or rippling streams...

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:52:15 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

So I should leave the new chain-saw-on-a-stick at home?

Probably.

I was telling people about it at lunch and they didn’t believe me.

Didn’t believe it? Don’t people go to home improvment stores? Sheesh.

We need to put another hose full of salt on the back of the other bedroom. And check on the two. It is going to peak above freezing tomorrow which is prime time for ice dams.

I don’t even know if it’s still available, but when our kids were little, and I was doing diapers often, the doc recommented Kerodex lotion. It is a barrier cream, so that no water gets through to hurt your hands. During a time when you’re washing your hands a lot, you may need to re-apply it a couple of times. When the shift is over, you can wash it off with hot water and lots of soap. The hospital may have something like that available for the nurses.

All day long, I’ve been thinking it was Friday! SirKit reminded me when we were at the Doc’s office that it was only Thursday. This past two weeks just turned me all around!

And the final shift of 80 hours.

Not all at once, I hope! ;o)

Isn't he dropping out?

There are some who are fervently hoping he does. ;o) It's MY hope that he'll knock their socks off!

Hi there! Got down to 27 last night, coldest night in 4 years.

Say, this thread is 5 months old. Isn’t it time for a new one?

Yeah yeah - ;~) We’ll start a new one tonight... assuming we have power of course... the wind is picking up here.

Don’t say that!

About the wind, I mean.

I’m not in the mood for a power outage. :-\

Wow... that’s a lot of snow. You don’t look amused ;~)

That’s a cool shovel on a stick. We could use one of those. We had one year where we were pulling snow off the roof... it was starting to get hard to open the front door and I think it was close to collapse! It was melting was the problem, and there were ice dams that kept the water from draining off.

OK - if you think me not saying it has that much impact, I won't say it again ;~)

It is a roof rake. It works almost as well as a water rake... (hehe)

Actually, it does a pretty good job of getting the snow off the roof from the ground level. The work is almost isolated to the upper body, and gravity does most of it for you. About the only complaint I have is that if you are short 'like me' you have to hold the rake pole up above your head to get a good grab of snow if your roof has a shallow pitch.
